Our client is searching for a Career Counselor to join their team. This team member will provide career planning guidance and employment search assistance to eligible individuals. If you are seeking a new career opportunity and want to make a difference, this is for you! Job Duities
Service Delivery:
Assess client utilizing intake procedure and incorporate other resources including but not limited to the Nebraska Department of Labor assessment tools
Provide client with orientation to the U.S. workplace culture; incorporate information from Success Track classes
Promote self-sufficiency through assisting the client in addressing any barriers to employment including referrals to both internal and external partners as needed; can include accompanying client and providing transportation to and from services
Assist client in developing their individualized job search tools including but not limited to resume review and revision appropriate for the local job market or targeted sector; create LinkedIn profile
Assist client in navigating the enrollment process for other resources including but not limited to employment and training services available with partners at American Job Centers, Nebraska Department of Labor or through universities
Continue to identify other opportunities to partner and build the network of support available to participants in their personal and professional development
Track client challenges and success in participation with other programs to ensure effective coordination and maximum benefit to client
Provide ongoing case management to ensure career development
Assist clients on getting licensure and recertification
Work with refugee clients to identify appropriate employment opportunities through utilizing multiple job search tools including but not limited to NE Works, CareerLink, Indeed, staffing agencies with specific opportunities or specific employers in targeted sectors
Provide refugee clients with regular leads for jobs, and help the clients to apply for jobs as well, while clients are identifying employment opportunities
Assist clients in preparing for interviews
Explore options to for clients to network and better position themselves within desired career field
Maintain regular contact with clients while guiding and assisting in job search and networking activities
Attend local hiring events host by local businesses or community partners
Attend networking events with other community partners
Coordinate with job developer to ensure follow up with employers where there has been a suitable employment match identified
Provide clients with soft skills coaching; seek input from Success Track trainer as needed to incorporate lessons learned
Identify and refer possible participants to career mentorship program
Prepare reports and success stories for program
Record Keeping
Keep case notes and other files current
Document all client interactions; create progress reports and note problems
Maintain client records in compliance with organization policy and reimbursement standards
Professional Growth and Development
Attend webinars or trainings that relate to developing the knowledge necessary to improve in carrying out the duties of the position with the approval of supervisor or at the direction of the supervisor
Attend and participate in staff meetings for supervision, team building and program planning
Participate in regular supervision sessions to review cases, discuss employment strategy, and monitor client progress
Qualifications
Minimum of two years of experience performing social or community services work required.
Talent acquisition or workforce development experience is preferred
Proficient computer skills; including Microsoft Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Publisher)
Valid driver's license, proof of liability insurance, and ability to drive for organization business
