The role of the Director, Corporate Communications supports the VP External Communications and Chief Communications Officer by developing proactive and reactive communications that reinforce the company’s story. This position is responsible for primary management of the company media line, developing messaging for company leaders, drafting statements/press releases, creating social media messages, generating reports on media coverage/social media conversation and identifying trends.
The successful candidate comes with experience managing business and financial communications, understanding regulatory requirements, working in a highly matrixed and change-oriented environment, meeting short deadlines and being a strong relationship builder across the communications function and with other internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
Develop proactive and reactive communications with trade, local and top tier media publications (i.e. American Banker, AJC, WSJ, USAToday, Business Week, CNBC) with oversight from the VP External Communications
Manage and regularly contribute written content to company’s online Newsroom
Manage press release distribution with PR Newswire
Serve as primary lead for the Corporate Media Line following established guidelines and determine backfill as needed
Work with broader corporate team and BU communications leads to craft media responses that build and protect company reputation
Support VP External Communications on development of enterprise issues management plan and crisis resolution team
Create materials in support of preparing executive spokespeople for media interviews and other public speaking opportunities
Manage monitoring and reporting tools to generate reports on coverage, track social media conversation, identify trends, measure content performance and capture external share of voice
Develop and maintain content calendar of planned earned media pitches and releases within BUs and Enterprise, in coordination with VP External Communications
Support VP External Communications in preparing and executing thought leadership plan with key executives
Support efforts preparing and distributing investor-related communications working closely with the company’s Investor Relations team
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree – Journalism or Communications preferred
5-7 years of experience in public relations or communications, or similar, in corporate environment
Experience with communications team of publicly-traded, matrixed company a plus
Experience creating messaging focused on company reputation and executive communications
Fast learner with understanding of business and experience working on earnings reports and investor communications
Demonstrated ability to assess risk and anticipate and manage issues and crises that can affect company reputation
