Illinois American Water, is looking for a Field Service Technician who will work out in our communities providing valuable service to our customers. The ideal candidate must have good customer service skills, be willing to work with the public, be comfortable with utilizing technology in the workplace, and work in various weather elements.
The hours on this position are Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. The successful candidate will also need to work overtime and emergencies as needed, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Accountabilities
Works professionally with customers while performing various customer service work including B-Box and sewer inspections, meter reading routes, meter reads, tests and/or installation of water meters, water quality sampling and testing, pressure testing and complaint resolution, identifies account discrepancies and other related customer service assignments.
Follows department directives regarding customer satisfaction performance goals including safety initiatives.
Maintains equipment in proper and safe operating condition, performs minor repairs on equipment
Maintains company vehicle including daily vehicle inspections.
Works well with other department’s providing assistance and guidance ensuring assigned projects are completed on time and correct documentation and customer follow up is completed.
Provides guidance and recommendations on resolutions to customer issues.
Effectively operates various equipment including line and meter locators, pressure gauges, sawzall, augers, b-box keys, and any other equipment necessary to complete assigned work.
Knowledge/Skills
Has heightened knowledge of industry safety and OSHA requirements, use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Basic math, reading, correspondence & e-mail writing, good statistical and problem solving skills.
Has good working knowledge of reading, installing and minor repair of water meter and use or meter reading equipment, including meter reading and data logger equipment.
Good command of various software including Tough book, i-pad and Work1View, or other order processing software, Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word), MapCall, GIS mapping and other necessary and related software to perform assigned tasks.
Solid practical knowledge of field service work using industry utility tools and equipment.
Experience/Education
Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent, have ability to perform mathematical calculations with accuracy as related to the position.
Other
Ability to communicate effectively with external and external customers, written and verbal.
Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
Ability perform job duty related manual labor with ability to routinely lift up to 35 pounds
Work occasional overtime and possible modified work schedule to include late and Saturday appointments as well as participation in the On-Call Program.
