The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking candidates for a laborer position reporting to the Laborer Foreman within the Utilities & Infrastructure Department. If you want to be part of enabling nuclear energy research and development, including deployment of next generation nuclear reactors then this position is for you.

A Laborer at MFC is responsible for maintaining facilities, yards, and grounds in a clean, safe, and pleasing condition by performing duties primarily involving physical labor.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Performs cleaning, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, cleaning of windows/walls/doors/restrooms and other similar duties.

  • Operates equipment i.e, power buffer and scrubbers, vacuums, carpet cleaners and high speed burnishers.

  • Performs furniture, equipment and material moves.

  • Performs seasonal outdoor yard work such as: cutting grass, shoveling, sweeping, and hosing of sidewalks and roadways, cleans ditches, fence lines and grounds of weeds and debris.

  • Performs snow removal operations.

  • Performs decontamination work.

Minimum Requirements:


  • Capable of working extended periods of time in Radiological work areas including wearing the required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (Respiratory protection etc.).

  • Must be able to obtain/qualify Radiological Worker II within 90 days of hire date and maintain qualification for duration of employment.

  • Able to work in hazardous location such as confined spaces.

  • Must be able to perform work in accordance with all applicable laws, codes, procedures, and safety requirements.

  • Required to follow Conduct of OPS and Conduct of Maintenance requirements.

  • Good skills in oral and written communication and maintain effective working relationship with others.

  • Must be able to perform hantavirus clean up

  • Must be able to work from ladders, platforms, and scaffolds.

Must be willing to gain essential knowledge of the following areas:


  • General Knowledge of LO/TO

  • Laborer specific tools and materials. (Lawnmowers, snow blowers, furniture cart/dollies, power broom, lawn tractor, weed trimmer, buffer, extractor, scrubber, burnisher) ect...

  • Shop LI's

  • Working in hazardous temperatures Hot/Cold

  • MSDS Sheets.

  • Knowledge to identify and mitigate hazardous.

  • Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).

  • Asbestos/Lead awareness.

  • Blood Born Pathogens
