Type: Full-Time
Meet with and counsel various populations of struggling students throughout the year to provide support, connect them to appropriate resources, and help them identify available options:
-Meet with contract students to implement individualized strategies for students on academic notice or academic probation to improve retention at the University as well as help the students realize their educational goals
-Meet contract students to discuss options of staying at OU at the end of each semester.
-Meet with suspended student to discuss the readmission and/or appeal processes to return to OU.
-Meet with walk-in students about changing majors, changing colleges, academic status, etc.
-Provide on-going support and advocate for students who are first generation, low income, or have disabilities.
-Help with the outreach to academically at-risk students during midterm outreach to identify problems and work with students to create solutions for academic success
-Support the First-Year Student Mentoring Program and Transitions course as needed
-Help with advising in summer with NSO
-Provide Strategies for Success course support:
-Review the lecture syllabus with lead-teacher
-Assist with preparation of course resources and materials such as tests, activities, PowerPoint presentations, reading packet, Canvas, etc.
-Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of discussion section instructors
-Teach at least one section a semester in-load
-Substitute for absent discussion instructors
-Assist in keeping the Strategies for Success statistics updated
-Assist with grading of course assignments and uploading grades into Canvas for Strategies for Success Course
- Organize and manage information and activities for instructor manuals
- Assist in selection, training, supervision and payment of Peer Teaching Assistants
-Other jobs as assigned
