Overview:

URC is seeking an experienced Deputy Project Director for a major USAID-funded supply chain technical assistance program. The Deputy Project Director will support the Project Director to provide overall technical vision and oversight for the project, manage consortium partners, and ensure effective contract implementation at the global and country levels to meet the project’s goals and objectives. S//he will ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions, USAID rules and regulations, company policies and procedures, and ensure systems are in place to deliver the highest caliber of technical assistance, while managing costs against budgets and identifying and mitigating risks. The Deputy Director will be responsible for ensuring performance in one or more key technical areas within supply chain management technical assistance.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Support the Project Director to provide leadership to the program, ensure strategic program direction, and ensure the provision of high-quality technical assistance.

  • Supervise senior-level technical team members across the spectrum of supply chain services and interventions to ensure high quality and comprehensive programming and timely and efficient delivery of life-saving health commodities, equipment and infrastructural inputs in priority countries across the globe.

  • Liaise with key partners and stakeholders to meet project objectives and deliver results.

  • Mobilize institutional and project resources, tools, best practices, innovations, and technology to deliver a synergistic, evidence-based project.

  • Ensure project activities are designed and implemented per evidence-based policies and best practices while being tailored to the local context.

  • Contribute to achievement of project objectives and benchmarks.

  • Provide a leadership role in the development of annual workplans and reports, and ensure timely submission of project deliverables, technical reports and presentations that are in compliance with URC and donor guidelines and contractual specifications.

  • Represent the project in the absence of the Project Director.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 


  • Advanced degree in supply chain management, business, or related field

  • At least eight years of progressive work experience in in supply chain management with supervisory and managerial responsibility

  • At least eight years of experience in technical assistance for supply chain management, including expertise in one or more key areas, such as supporting and strengthening warehousing, distribution, quantification, forecasting, procurement, transportation, and information systems, and private sector engagement.

  • Experience managing teams of multi-disciplinary technical specialists.

  • Demonstrated experience developing, managing, tracking and reporting on activities in multiple countries and technical areas, and their associated budgets.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with others to translate technical materials into practical tools and approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake problem analyses to develop creative and innovative approaches to improve program design, implementation and results reporting.

  • Strong management, interpersonal, communication, mentoring and facilitation skills.

  • Ability to network and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders.

  • English fluency required; secondary language fluency desired.
