JOB TITLE:Supervisor - Industrial HygieneREPORTS TO:Director - Health, Safety, & SecurityFLSA STATUS:ExemptAPPROVED BY:Director - Human Resources, ChemicalsSUMMARYActs independently under only consultative direction. Works with latitude to plan, conduct, and direct development work. Will be directly responsible for all aspects of IH programs as well as other facets of Health related topics and programs for Region I chemical manufacturing sites. This position will also participate on the IH steering team and may be called upon as a technical expert to support smaller manufacturing sites and other areas within Westlake Chemical.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Uses expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts to contribute to the development of the company's IH policies, standards, and operating guidelines.
Acts as an internal authority on all existing and proposed changes in applicable Federal, State, and international laws and regulations related to the field of occupational health and industrial hygiene.
Assists with authoring of IH procedures and policies.
Responsible for the IH budget for sites. Develops sampling strategies and ensures all sampling is completed per recognized regulations to include job specific job tasks sampling.
Works with the analytical lab to ensure all data is analyzed and conducted per the approved testing methodology. Completes data analysis and makes recommendations based on data trends.
Provides technical expertise and guidance in interpreting and monitoring compliance with regulatory and industry requirements regarding preventive and remedial programs.
Provides expert health risk assessment advice to operations/maintenance and projects groups to anticipate/identify health hazards and recommend engineering design for effective control of these hazards in modifications, expansions, new projects and plants.
Reviews, evaluates, and prepares replies to technical and management audits.
Supplies technical inspiration and leadership consultation to professional co-workers.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSM.S. in Industrial Hygiene or related fields and up to 6-8 year experience; or B.S. in Industrial Hygiene and 8-10 years of experience.
CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene) preferred or must acquire within 12 months of employment

PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
