Henkels & McCoy, Inc. (H&M) is one of the largest privately held international utility contracting firms, with offices in 80 cities and celebrating over 90 years of operating with a reputation as one of the most reliable and innovative firms in engineering and construction, is currently seeding a Dispatcher for it's Fleet Department. Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, the Dispatcher will be responsible for efficiently and accurately coordinating company-owned and outside rental construction equipment deliveries to project locations.
Responsibilities:
Receives calls for equipment needs and provides the equipment requested
Tracks equipment moves between locations
Arranges transportation for equipment
Maintains equipment tracking and transfer records; electronic record keeping
Maintains equipment assignment and yard location records; for area and yard
Procures rental equipment when no company-owned equipment is available
Ensures equipment is properly numbered
Confirms proper Purchase Order is procured for short term rental agreements
Communicates to Area Managers when equipment is coming and going from their area
Replaces rental equipment with company-owned equipment as it becomes available
Generates transfer sheets for each piece of equipment moved
Follows processes developed in-house for equipment procurement, release, and transfer
Dispatches team of drivers, who report to him/her on a daily basis
Works with vendors in procuring the proper equipment in a timely manner.
Negotiates freight costs with vendors for equipment moves
Retrieves most cost-efficient quotes for equipment moves
Works with Shop Foreman on equipment being delivered and completion deadlines
Conducts daily inventory of what is in the yard
Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED equivalent
Experienced with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Proficient in English, spoken/written
Previous experience with dispatching construction equipment preferred
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity and understanding of DOT vehicle load height and weight restrictions, permit loads, acquiring permits, etc.
Knowledge of construction and/or heavy construction equipment related to Gas, Pipeline, and Civil work
Logistics experience
Knowledge of California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations
Must be able to multitask and prioritize
A positive attitude and professional conduct are required
Production of quality work while working independently and motivated is essential.
