The Director of Leadership and Organization Development is responsible for partnering with executive leaders, Human Resources, Corporate and Division Leadership & Organizational Development, and other business leaders to develop and implement solutions that align with key business strategies and enhance organizational performance. This position provides consulting expertise, guidance and support around organizational design, change and development strategies to support service lines and focus on key performance indicators including Patient Loyalty, Physician Engagement, Colleague Engagement, Fiscal Commitment, and Community Involvement. The position assesses, designs, implements, manages and evaluates organizational development strategies, leadership development programs, coordinates non-clinical training programs and initiatives to improve overall organizational effectiveness and performance.The position assesses, designs, implements, manages and evaluates organizational development strategies, leadership development programs, coordinates non-clinical training programs and initiatives to improve overall organizational effectiveness and performance.


  • Builds organizational capability through the design and implementation of impactful organizational development interventions.

  • Develops strategic partnerships with the Executive Team, HR and other internal clients to identify, diagnose, and support organizational development interventions and solutions.

  • Assists with the provision of expert facilitation and coaching to supervisors and managers regarding OD methods and tools.

  • Ensures quality leadership and staff development offerings through effective needs assessments, course design, qualified/professional instruction, and program evaluation, use of current development resource materials, and learning reinforcement strategies and applications.

  • Assists in prioritizing organizational efforts and resources towards development and education activities that are critical to the organization's mission, vision, culture, values and strategic priorities.

  • Consults on the design of teams and facilitates team development interventions, including shared governance models.

  • Assists in integrating the leadership competency model for selection, assessment, training and development and succession planning.

  • Develops and implements manager and staff development programs that support the organization's succession plan and retention of key talent.

  • In conjunction with HR, monitors development activities of succession candidates towards the goal of developing 'ready-now' candidates for key positions.

  • Oversees and administers targeted development programs for new and high potential leaders

  • Evaluates current onboarding programs and processes and recommends enhanced/new solutions

  • Manages the implementation of leadership coaching needs within the company and monitors/measures the effectiveness of the coaching program.

  • Assesses and monitors the effectiveness of all development and training initiatives against pre-defined metrics.

  • Provides change management expertise in support of organizational change projects.

  • Partners with Education on front line supervisory development.

  • Leverages existing diagnostic tools such as the colleague survey, performance reviews, HR metrics, HCHAPS scores and physician engagement surveys for diagnoses and for developing highly targeted and effective interventions.

  • Facilitates, supports and consults on endeavors to integrate organizational values and the creation of an organizational culture that provides a sustainable competitive advantage.

  • Serves as an internal consultant to facilitate team building; resolving work group conflict; changes in group norms, values and culture.

  • Maintains and updates knowledge of change management theory, principles, and practices; management and leadership approaches, and instructional design and delivery techniques in order to develop personal areas for improvement and also to make recommendations to assist client learning.

  • Evaluates consulting interventions by identifying the impact on organizational effectiveness and performance improvement.

  • Manages the work of internal and external consultants and coaches.

  • Prepares budgetary recommendations that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources.

  • Other duties as assigned by facility leadership

Qualifications


  • International Coaching Federation or related coaching certificate preferred. Certifications in diagnostic tools and assessments desirable.

  • Master's degree in Organization Development, Human Resource Development, or related field. Doctorate degree in Organizational Development preferred.

  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience developing and implementing leadership and organizational development programs to include experience in OD improvement cycles and experience designing and implementing learning strategies to support business objectives.

  • Change management and project management experience.

  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Must have working knowledge of adult learning principles to support strong team coaching and facilitation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate programs; strong project management skills.

  • Requires diplomacy and the ability to problem solve in a team environment.

  • Ability to determine training needs and appropriate method for delivery of training, which may include the design and delivery of that training. Must be able to deliver presentations to broad audiences.

  • Ability to analyze organizational structures, responsibilities, team work, business or operating procedures and work processes to design efficient methods of accomplishing work.

  • Working knowledge of employee involvement and motivation, and team development.

  • Knowledge of strategy, business and budget planning.

  • Ability to coach various individuals, including but not limited to leadership, staff and physicians.

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills, problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Ability to negotiate and influence within a collaborative framework.

  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future trends/consequences and create innovative strategies and flexible plans.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate business needs into human performance improvement strategies.

  • Effective computer technology skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office desktop tools and electronic communications such as e-mail, calendars, etc.
