POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Principal Industry Consultant to provide SAS' AgTech and Consumer Goods Business Unit with actionable data insights that will help boost innovation and increase revenue in the area of food safety. This Industry Consultant will leverage extensive industry expertise and networks to drive revenue growth. In this role, the Industry Consultant will actively work with sales teams and partners in support of sales opportunities and provide technical leadership with a focus on generating insights for the use of SAS technology to help combat food safety issues and support customers across a wide range of industry, from meat protein companies to grocers.

LOCATIONArlington, VA preferred. Cary NC also acceptable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    Integral part of the AgTech and Consumer Goods team, working to expand SAS' footprint across animal protein CPG companies, wholesalers and logistics providers, and grocery.
  • Creates and delivers credible and unique viewpoints to differentiate SAS in the market.

  • Actively works with sales teams and provides strategic impact to the industry sales go-to-market plans.

  • Develops and enhances personal and team domain skills to drive revenue and sales success.

  • Providing direct industry/business domain sales support through sales calls, customer visits and presentations contributing to new revenue generation.

  • Developing industry specific sales strategy that enables the SAS sales force to establish SAS as the key industry analytics partner.

  • Leading customer engagements (e.g. solution/domain enablement, discovery, value quantification, best practices) in support of pre and post sales activities.

  • Participating in activities that demonstrate SAS' industry experience and leadership. May publish industry articles, blogs and white papers. Speaking at internal and external industry events. Developing workshops to educate sales/marketing team.

  • Preparing and delivering presentations and demonstrations to customers at the highest levels of management.

  • Participating with senior management to identify and establish objectives, assignments, and goals in accordance with SAS business unit specific strategic plans; assists in targeting specific customers and business partners to promote industry sales and marketing initiatives.

  • Assisting with providing market-driven information for future product direction using industry expertise and direct interaction with customers, prospects, analysts, and other external resources.

  • Building credibility and trusted advisor relationship with customers.

  • 25% travel and on an as needed basis based on manager discretion.

  • Performing other duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Food Safety, Agriculture, or a related topic. SAS experience preferred.

  • Minimum 8-10 years' experience in food safety, animal protein, or agriculture public policy.

  • Ability to communicate and interact with multiple animal protein CPG companies and grocers.

  • Ability to bridge communication and efforts between two or more diverse organizations.

  • Ability to unravel complex issuesand ambiguity.

  • Ability to influence up using insights from data analytics.

  • Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Extensive background in public policy. Experience working with the animal agriculture industry.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the complex data problems facing the animal agriculture industry.

  • Reliable, creative, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
