Assembleand test relief valves on air, water, steam, ammonia or gas to meet requiredpressure specifications. 

 

Responsibilities

Performa variety of assembly operations on all styles and sizes of valves such astagging, stamping nameplates and data plates, attach seals and springcovers.  Install necessary trim on safetyvalves such as cap levers indicators pointers, etc.  Interpret orders for stamping of Nuclear,Navy and commercial nameplates.  Performpreparation and painting operations in accordance with QA and customerrequirements.

 

Makedecisions with respect to the action of the valve.  Set and adjust to proper desiredpressure.  Check for seat tightness.  Detect any malfunction of valve and markvalve area of leakage.

 

Workfrom specifications, drawings or sketches to perform hand or machine lapping ofany valve or nozzle seat, inserts and other parts.  As necessary, operate two or more machinessimultaneously.  Use proper lappingcompounds for specified surface flatness and mix various compoundsaccordingly.  Also use special polishingcompounds to attain high degree of surface finish.

 

Useany equipment required to perform the duties of the function includingoperation of flow testing equipment. Follow all department operating instructions and procedures required toaccomplish tasks.

 

Dailyinterface with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control and Salesregarding customer requirements and valve problems to insure on-time deliveriesare met.  With minimal supervision, mustbe able to determine production schedule and have knowledge of MRP to determineavailable stock on hand and breakdown to lowest part level.  May be required to work unscheduled overtimeto satisfy emergency or critical customer shipments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be US Citizen due to contractual requirements with the US Navy
  • Machinist or machine operator experience a plus
  • Four years related mechanical assembly or mechanical repair experience
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to understand and effectively use general measuring instruments
  • Knowledge of and ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  •  Work Authorization
