The EHS Professional independently coordinates and conducts field assessments of EHS issues to ensure all operational activities are consistent with the needs of the organization and requirements of jurisdictional governmental regulatory agencies. Performs complex assignments often requiring development of unique solutions to EHS problems because of the variables involved. Interprets results, principles, theories, and concepts of an investigative EHS discipline specialty, and regulatory requirements, on a broader basis. Develops and implements programs to ensure that EHS risks and impacts are appropriately managed or mitigated.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
• Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues, such as conflicting technical objectives, unsuitability of standard procedures, and difficult coordination requirements
• Plans and executes project activities with operating and other technical units to facilitate participation of appropriate resources in project completion
• Contributes to EHS studies to evaluate safety/health risks and environmental aspects
• Recommends changes to procedures, standards, and use of equipment
• Assists in determining project objectives to contribute to the development of comprehensive program requirements
• Prepares governmental reports and participates in representation with outside agencies
• Monitors safety and health performance and recommends priorities and actions for improvement
• Supports the review of new products, equipment, and processes for potential risks and impacts. May provide recommend modifications before introduction in conjunction with a more senior EHS Manager
• Collaborates with employees and supervisors to identify and correct potential safety and health hazards
• Develops safe standard work practices with line personnel and monitors conformance through safety and housekeeping inspections
• Assures compliance with organization and government health and safety standards

EDUCATION KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
• Degree in an appropriate engineering or life/physical scientific discipline
• Ability to take certification exams in an EHS field as recognized by local or country jurisdiction
• Five to eight years of EHS experience
