Position Overview

Ensure safe, efficient, and proper operation of heavy construction equipment to lift and transport materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, chutes, and to load trucks or rail cars.  Must have experience operating excavator, dozer, and hammer.

Key Responsibilities

(Essential Duties and Functions)

• Complies with all environmental, health, safety and training policies, procedures, and requirements.


• Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including loaders, excavators, dozers, hammers, and haul trucks.


• Perform daily pre-shift procedures.


• Communicate with and cooperate with truckers and customers as required.


• Perform equipment maintenance on a routine basis, i.e., lubrication, fueling and cleaning of loader.


• Wear a hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hearing protection and respirator as needed.


• Regular attendance in accordance with the Company’s attendance policy is expected.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High school or equivalent


• Successful completion of MSHA/OSHA Training


• Task training on an as needed basis

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Thorough operational knowledge and skills of specific equipment to be operated.


• Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.


• Ability to service the assigned equipment to ensure maximum operating efficiency.
