Program Overview Each intern is presented a real business challenge within their group that provides the opportunity to exchange ideas with subject matter experts for optimal learning and development that leads to real solutions. At the end of the summer, our interns get together to showcase their awesome accomplishments during an event we call the "Intern Expo". But we aren't ALL business, throughout the summer our University Relations team hosts exclusive events such as featured executive lunch & learns, plant tours, personal & professional development sessions and intern socials. Your Role Primary Project - Improving and Streamlining the Thomasville and Garner Zero Landfill Recycling program. Thomasville generates over 30 million lbs of process waste annually, ~95% of which gets recycled. The tracking and reporting of this data is scattered and messy. Our 3 rd party recycling partners need guidance about how and when to provide information for reporting purposes. There are opportunities to recycle some of the 5% that is not currently being recycled, but it will take effort and collaboration with suppliers. There is also a need for improvement in our internal recycling process, particularly with regard to tracking and reporting progress to the team in a timely manner. The this internship would expose the candidate to all parts of the laminate and molding plant operations and all levels of the supply chain. They would work with individuals at many levels of the business both externally and internally. It will require a lot of work in MS Excel, but should all the candidate to show tangible results of their accomplishments by the end of the internship. (Est. Time to complete = ~2 months) Secondary Project - Raw Materials Collaborative Pricing Bids. Some time may be spent supporting collaborative bidding processes among multiple vendors and/or multiple Mohawk sites. This will depend on what commodities are being bid at the time of the internship (example: shrink films, cartons, etc.). It will give the candidate experience with preparing an RFQ, meeting with vendors, analyzing bids, negotiating for the best deal, and seeking internal buy-in at Mohawk. (Est. time: 1-2 months, depending on commodity). Tertiary Project (if time allows) - MRO/Spare Parts System Data Analysis and Validation. There is also a need to support SAP Data Analysis and Clean-up for our MRO/Spare Parts warehouse. This is an MS Excel intensive on-going effort and any time not spent on the projects above, might be spent in this area. The objective is to ensure our system data is as accurate as possible so that the maintenance teams have on hand and can locate the right part at the right time when a production line breaks down. Enrolled in an accredited Bachelors degree program in Supply Chain or Sustainability
Minimum 2.7 GPA
Completed freshman year of courses
Intermediate Excel analytics
Exposure/basic knowledge of SAP
