Cirium seeks an experienced Senior Software Developer in Test to work in a cross-functional agile team focused on delivering customer-facing analytics products. You are a quality-focused developer/tester who loves to prevent bugs even more than finding or fixing them. You enjoy coaching teams on quality best practices, introducing ways to measure quality for the benefit of the team and the customer, and helping teams design applications and systems that are highly testable. You possess a strong balance of technical skills, testing capability, and curiosity.
You have a solid foundation in software engineering, are conversant with Cloud Compute and CI/CD technologies, and are eager to use your skills to solve interesting problems in the aviation space. You use your proficiency in all aspects of quality software engineering for writing clean, well-documented code that is designed for testability and covered by tests at various levels. You play an active role in projects from inception to delivery and are responsible for building and maintaining a quality culture mindset on the team.
You are a highly accountable self-starter, able to learn quickly, and communicate effectively. You thrive on diverse, distributed teams that are product-centric. You enjoy contributing towards continuous incremental improvement and helping others solve problems. Working with the development team to improve quality by developing tests and test solutions
Reviewing tests developed by other members of the team and providing feedback
Advocating for testability, clarity and strong communication in all of its forms
Sharing testing and quality-related insights with the team.
Being an active member of the development team: contributing ideas and insight in standups and meetings, asking questions, reviewing pull requests, and helping colleagues.
Logging, documenting and tracking quality issues
Identifying and implementing appropriate and useful quality metrics
Swarming on critical issues (taking the lead in some cases) and working with the team towards resolution
Education and Key Skills
Bachelor's degree in a field that requires analytical and logical skills, OR equivalent experience.
Minimum of five years' experience in a technical role focused on quality, with at least two years spent writing code professionally.
An eye for increasing testability in applications.
Know how to share what you've built or better yet, build it with the team
Excellent written and spoken communication and documentation skills. Able to discuss complex technical subjects with clarity and precision.
Able to work productively with a Linux-based platform.
Familiar with source control tools (e.g. Git, SVN) and branching strategies
Familiar with logging, monitoring and alerting platforms and tooling (e.g., Datadog, Cloudwatch, New Relic, Splunk)
Familiar with CI/CD methodology and tooling
Testing web-delivered applications from front-end interfaces through to back-end systems.
Working as a Quality Engineer on a product delivery team with involvement at all stages of the SDLC, from ideation to production release and support.Successfully building a team-focused quality culture
Developing testing frameworks, but not hoarding them
Developing and improving observability from pre-production through to production environments
Utilizing cloud compute technology and tooling to improve testability.
Coaching and mentoring teams and individuals on code quality, designing for testability, and test automation.
Successfully operating in an agile development environment while collaborating with key stakeholders
