Job Description

Pillsbury is seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Sacramento office. This position will be an integral part of the Firmwide Human Resources team, as well as a member of the practice office management team. Responsibilities of the position will include all aspects related to staff recruiting, hiring, orientation, integration and employee relations for all attorneys and staff. The successful candidate will be able to execute, interpret, and implement local, California and Federal labor laws in compliance with Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman standards, have strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and accuracy; excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to multitask and thrive under tight deadlines. Candidates should have the ability to instill confidence and trust among professional and support constituencies, demonstrate a commitment to maintaining confidentially, and demonstrate a high-performance standard with a focus on client service and professionalism.

Representative Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all aspects of human resources for staff, including recruiting, hiring, orientation and integration.
  • Responsible for advising attorneys, managers and staff regarding employee relations issues and developing/implementing solutions.
  • Manage the staff performance review program and local personnel records for attorneys and staff.
  • Oversee the local Office and HR budget.
  • Work with local practice section leaders to manage staffing and utilization.
  • Handle employee status changes, including leaves of absence and separations.
  • Provide insight to local office and section leaders and others as needed.
  • Function as the primary contact for local vendors including contract executions and maintenance.
  • Additional ad hoc projects as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of five years' experience as a Human Resources Manager in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • PHR, PHRca, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification strongly desired.
