This opening is at our Kawneer Manufacturing Plant located in Visalia, CA. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic's global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

SUMMARY : Operate wastewater (WWT) and pretreatment equipment; sludge processing and disposal equipment in wastewater treatment plant to control the processing of wastewater, Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of the WWT plant operations, compliance with State, Federal, Local and Company regulations. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the EHS Manager, by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES included but not limited to the following:


  • Adhere to all Kawneer Arconic, State and Federal rules, permits and regulations pertaining to industrial wastewater treatment discharges.
  • Operate Industrial Wastewater treatment processes with minimal supervision.
  • Make necessary chemical adjustments to maintain location's industrial discharge permit parameters throughout the wastewater treatment system and final discharge.
  • Perform & document basic laboratory tests associated with the wastewater treatment process. This includes monitoring Chromium levels, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), temperature, titrations, and other vital measurements
  • Perform & document daily calibration of meters & probes
  • Keep accurate and complete records of process parameters, discharged water and other indicators as required.
  • Troubleshoot process problems and make process control decisions
  • Assist in the performance of regular and unscheduled maintenance and repairs on all wastewater treatment equipment and machinery
  • Safely handle treatment chemicals and wastes, including hazardous wastes, in accordance with Arconic, State and Federal rules, permits and regulations
  • Monitor wastewater treatment system, adjusting via system controls and titrations
  • Take samples and run test to determine the quality of the water being discharged
  • Read Meters, gauges, and auto computer monitoring systems to make sure plant equipment is working properly
  • Operate and maintain the pumps and motors that move water and waste through filtration systems
  • Ability to apply the results of testing to the process
  • Help develop, implement, and maintain effective preventive maintenance programs
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, lab, and office
  • Flex to other areas of the shop such as but not limited to Pretreat, load, and verify and count material
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide complex numbers
  • Ability to obtain & maintain an Arconic mobile equipment operator certification, overhead crane certification, lock out/tag out certification, and respirator certification
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :


  • Three years wastewater work experience
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to repetitively lift up to 40 pounds or 1/3 of your body weight
  • Able to climb stairs multiple times per day
  • Able to work 12-hour days
  • Able to wear required PPE, including a respirator
  • Able to bend and twist repetitively
