The Senior BSA/AML Data Science Analyst, as a member of the Financial Investigations Unit (FIU), partners with Management in the oversight and responsibility for the Bank's transaction monitoring and customer risk management models employed in monitoring and alerting for suspicious, fraudulent and/or high-risk activity. Using a strong understanding of business systems, models, and / or BSA related regulations, this position assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of models based on user needs, strategic objectives and regulatory / internal control requirements.

The Senior BSA/AML Data Science Analyst must keep abreast with current and emerging money laundering and financial crime trends. They must also understand the Risk Appetite of the bank and be able to manage, identify and adjust to the changing customer risk profile of the bank which includes the ability to structure "outside of the box" solutions.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide expertise in mathematical concepts supporting development, maintenance and enhancements of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) scenario and Customer Risk Rating (CRR) models

  • Document the processes and procedures utilized to create datasets used in the design, recalibration and maintenance of the BSA/AML models.

  • Ensure documentation of statistical analysis of models and enhancements meet risk management and regulatory standards.


  • Work closely with all BSA/AML departments and managers to identify business requirements for program enhancements including scenarios or reporting needs.

  • Effectively compile and communicate testing and tuning results to the BSA management team, IT support partners and other line of business partners.


  • Prepare data visualizations for Risk Assessment processes that empower management to make sound business decisions.

  • Perform coverage assessment of both FCRM and CRR model to ensure compliance with regulations and regulatory guidance. Identify gaps in coverage and recommend solutions.

  • Using Power Bi or other data visualization tools, build and support dashboards for management reporting

  • Engage in mentoring activities to develop analysts at all levels

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related quantitative discipline, required

  • 3-4 years relevant experience in statistical analysis or outstanding academic credentials OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Background in banking processes or banking compliance desirable

  • CAMS, CAFP, or CRCM, preferred

  • Advanced statistical model knowledge, including model development, documentation, implementation ad calibration.

  • Ability to exercise logical and analytical processes to problem solve and develop creative solutions

  • Experience creating dashboards and reporting utilizing a variety of tools including PowerBi for use in management oversight

  • Proficiency using SQL and extracting data from databases

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment while still completing assigned projects independently.
