Supervise and manage engineering staff responsible for pipeline integrity activities and system material standards within the gas distribution and transmission systems. Understand and apply engineering principles, industry knowledge and regulatory standards to assist in the development of engineered solutions and recommendations to enhance the safety and reliability of the natural gas networks. Prepares and communicates reports and maintains records for various activities in the department.
Responsibilities
Supervise and direct a staff of Engineers and Analysts with Gas Technical Services responsible for Transmission and Distribution Integrity Management Program (IMP) and Material Standards activities.
Responsible for regulatory compliance of planned and emergent IMP activities, pipeline assessment and Program implementation. Prepares and communicates IM Program status, provides periodic reports and maintains documents and records supporting completion of IM Program activities. Responsible for the identification, basis and prioritization of asset condition including Leak Prone Main Segments that support annual replacement/retirement performance measures. Responsible for proper application and availability of necessary Contractor resources, tools and materials needed to perform Integrity Management and Standards functions in the group. Develops and manages the IM Program schedule and budget in accordance with all Company and regulatory requirements. Identify and recommend remedial actions to address pipeline anomalies or asset condition issues identified as part of assessment or other IM Program activities.
Responsible for the identification and approval of materials used in system construction, material specifications, Gas Construction Standards and root cause analysis of defective/failed materials. Reviews, maintains and utilizes SAP material data and SAP processes.
Supports Gas Field Operations and other departments in pipeline assessment and asset condition determination and material evaluations. Applies Company, industry, local, state, national codes, and standards, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements. Interacts with customers, developers, municipalities, agencies and others. Provides guidance and mentoring of Lead Analysts, Analysts and other identified individuals. Manages technical support contractors and consultants. Identifies employee development and training opportunities within the group. Review and prepare various engineering reports, presentations and documentation. Responsible to ensure employees work safely and work orders include proper safety. Represent the company on various teams or committees. Acts as liaison for the Company with customers and with state and municipal agencies to coordinate efforts.

Technical Skills/Competencies
General Engineering knowledge - For example: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)
Computer skills - Ability to learn and utilize new engineering specific software. Strong understanding of database programs (e.g. Access, Oracle, etc.).
Engineering documentation - Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment - Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree required (technical major preferred).
Minimum of 6-8 years technical experience in gas
Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
Knowledge of gas system construction and maintenance practices.
Knowledge of state and federal pipeline safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Transmission and Distribution Integrity Management Program
Experience in gas materials and standards
Experience with managing data, database programs and GIS software.
