Responsibilities
Establishes, administers and monitors company-wide standards, procedures and performance, within area of expertise, to minimize risk and ensure compliance with environmental and safety areas as it relates to their regulatory and legal requirements. Generally specializes and focuses on environmental, occupational health or safety. Provides specialized technical expertise and support for the elimination of hazards and prevention of injuries, program development, and performance tracking and reporting. Provides assistance to affiliate companies. Contributes to the improvement of EHS processes and procedures, fostering efficiencies and integration within Avangrid OpCos.
Track, summarize, and plan improvements to the Company's performance on environmental, health and safety related matters.
Establish inclusive relationships with key leaders to promote positive safety and environmental culture.

Conducts crew safety visits in the field for electric and/or gas utilities.
Interfaces with the appropriate regulatory agencies, minimizing Corporate risks and public liabilities.
Maintain compliance with environmental permits, registrations, and licenses for day-to-day operations and/or conditions.
Provides support during regulatory or certification audits/inspections.
Ensure Company compliance for: air pollution control, waste management, waste water discharges, chemical and oil propane storage, PCB management, underground storage tanks (UST), SPCC, RCRA, TSCA, and wetland management, etc.
Manage specific property remediation activities/projects/substation removals.
Manage the testing, handling and disposal of regulated and hazardous materials.
Develops Corporate compliance programs, including safety, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental procedures that minimize risks, specify appropriate personal protective equipment and safe work procedures.
Serves as the Company's primary technical expert in the area of safety, industrial hygiene, and/or environmental matters.
Conducts worker safety training both in house and in the field. Produces reports and enforces all regulations
Leads Root Cause accident and incident investigations and provides executive level reports.
Prepares environmental permit applications and compliance reports, tracks regulations and standards, and participates in Company's 24-hour emergency response program.
Provide 24-hour incident, storm, or emergency spill response support.
Conducts facility compliance audits for adherence to applicable EHS regulations. Ensure Company compliance for: air pollution control, waste management, waste water discharges, chemical and oil propane storage, PCB management, underground storage tanks (UST), SPCC, RCRA, TSCA, and wetland management, etc.
Performs statistical analysis and modeling. Assists in preparing regulatory compliance reports to management. Responsibilities include coordinating/overseeing contractors and consultants
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (EHS, Engineering, or Environmental Engineering preferred) with a minimum of seven years relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety experience required, or Associates Degree with a minimum of 10 years relevant EHS experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Exceptional knowledge and understanding of pertinent federal, state and local regulatory codes including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and NESC.
Knowledge of EHS regulations for utility industry.
Experience in electrical transmission and distribution, or gas distribution.
Knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and/or VPP Management System standards.
Demonstrated project/program management skills including; skills for defining and prioritizing product / project features
Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organization and with external stakeholders.
Ability to devise practical solutions to complex and risk-based problems or challenges.
Demonstrated track record of moving projects from concept to evaluation phase rapidly
Willingness to obtain further certifications and ongoing education.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to create an effective presentation.
Able to work independently, and exercise considerable judgment and decision-making skills.
Able to direct outside contractors/consultants and evaluate their progress.
Able to work under tight deadlines with changing priorities.
Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) preferred.
Ability to travel domestically routinely, up to 50%, and occasional international travel.
