Job Title: Purchasing Analyst

Overview: This position plays integral part in keeping the Ankeny facility supplied with raw & packaging materials and co-packed finished goods.  The position will support the Planning Department and Ankeny facility by ordering and scheduling materials to meet production schedules and forecasted demand.  This position will administrate purchase orders, manage inventory levels and execute additional work as assigned by their manager

Essential Duties: 

• Orders/schedules various materials in accordance to established forecast/contracts.


• Expedites/de-expedites materials in response to changes in the production schedule. 


• Maintains purchase orders and other system information as needed.


• Maintains communication with supplier and planning/production when there are delays or supply issues.


• Supports scheduling transfer of materials to and from copack facilities, DCs, etc.


• Assist in generating and providing forecast data to suppliers to ensure they can fulfill demand or in support of vendor managed inventory programs.


• Assists in O&D process to ensure materials are extended or disposed in a timely manner.


• Interact daily with various departments and facilities to ensure timely replenishment and high order fill rate.


• Provides support to receiving team in the event of missing documentation and quality in the event of material issues, rejections, and/or damaged product.

Minimum Experience: 

• 1 to 2 years experience


• 4-year degree in Business/Economics or other related field preferred. 


• Experience ideally in the food industry. 

Equipment/Software Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.  Familiarity with

JD Edwards a plus.

Minimum Education, Skills & Abilities: 

• Bachelor Degree


• Business / economics or related field

Skills and Abilities:

1) Strong analytical, mathematical, and quantitative skills.

2) Experience with Microsoft Excel

3) JDE experience a plus

4) Ability to manage/prioritize multiple projects and tasks.

5) Must be detailed, self motivated and highly organized.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:  Standard office environment.
