Job Description:

This Vice President & Actuary position is responsible for leading and managing the actuarial staff in the Casualty pricing unit of Commercial/Small Commercial (CI/SCI) Actuarial.  The role is based in our Whitehouse, NJ office and reports to the Lead Actuary for Commercial/Small Commercial.

Duties and Responsibilities related to these product lines:

• Work closely with CI/SCI management to set priorities for Monoline GL, Package GL, Airports, Public Entity, Multinational and multi-line program business


• Manage actuarial pricing staff including setting the staff’s priorities/workloads and training/developing


• Complete annual pricing studies, as well as ad-hoc pricing study requests


• Oversee annual casualty loss trend analysis


• Oversee large account pricing and collateral reviews


• Work with CI/SCI management to develop/revise rating algorithms, including providing actuarial rate filing support for state regulators


• Complete monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for price monitoring and actual versus expected


• Assist in developing the annual financial plan and quarterly evaluation of current accident year results


• Support the purchase and placement of reinsurance


• Work with the predictive analytics team to support CI/SCI underwriting initiatives

Qualifications:

• BS Degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance or a related field


• ACAS; FCAS preferred


• 10+ years of relevant actuarial pricing or reserving experience (not necessarily in these product lines)


• Proficiency in Excel, familiarity with SQL, Access, other MS Office applications a plus


• Prior managerial or supervisory experience strongly preferred


• Excellent analytical and communication skills


• Strong organizational and collaboration abilities
