A Day in the Life Individual contributor who provides project management and sourcing expertise to cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity teams with particular focus on the categories of Global Travel, Meetings & Events & Corporate Card, as well as the use of Concur Travel module. Facilitates these teams in the development and execution of long-term strategies that will optimize Medtronic's position in terms of quality, technology, risk, and total cost. Negotiates, establishes and monitors supplier agreements. Collaborate with global business partners and geographies to manage strategic sourcing initiatives and commodity strategies, mitigate risk, leverage technology and purchase power, improves processes and systems, and reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition of Services commodities to create an optimal number of "best in class" suppliers, provide competitive pricing, and implement world class sourcing strategies. Influence change within and across Medtronic businesses.

Responsibilities: We offer you a position where…
Deliver and oversee projects - from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through experience in Travel, Meetings, & Corporate Card category execution, and/or advanced education.
Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals.
Understand impact of innovation, business cost reduction, growth initiatives, aggregating supplier volume, reducing pricing, and utilizing tools.
Identify opportunities to leverage technology and drive compliance to contracts.
Develop global methodologies for Travel, Meetings, & Corporate Card category strategies and drive the process to generate category strategies to manage all aspects of the category to achieve world-class performance levels.
Work with (internal) stakeholders and drive market research for the various strategies.
Represents organization as contact in source selection, contract negotiations and administration of multi-million dollar contracts including internal spend analysis, preparation of bid packages, proposal analysis and evaluation, contract provision negotiation, supplier selection/recommendation, contract award and administration.
Support global customer base by communicating effectively across business unit sourcing organizations, business unit functions, financial and legal groups to complete work assignments and to build partnerships in support of strategies for the assigned commodity area.
Develop robust contracts that include requirements, deliverables, SLA's, and incremental value to the organization.
Communicate effectively with other business unit and regional procurement organizations, information technology, facilities, finance, and legal to complete work assignments. Define methodologies and templates for others to be used. Drive standardization in purchasing methodology.
Communicate with senior internal and external stakeholders and vendors. Exchange information of facts, statuses, ideas and issues to achieve objective and influence decision making.
Obtain global market condition information regarding categories and suppliers, leading to category strategies. Present, align, and implement business strategy changes. Benchmark with other companies to determine best overall practices for assigned commodity area. Forecast sub-commodity activity levels and trends, determine the optimal leverage points and prioritize contract opportunities.
Provide oversight of Quality and Sourcing initiatives. Including advising and coaching team members and business unit colleagues on center-led strategic objectives and how to do effective risk assessment in the category.
Report performance to key metrics and project status as required.
Provide leadership and subject matter expertise on "Best in Class" Sourcing processes.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree required
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in purchasing (travel, meetings, or corporate card categories) or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in purchasing (travel, meetings, or corporate card categories).
Nice to Have
Bi-lingual Spanish speaker
2+ years implementing, administering and working within the Concur Travel online booking tool (OBT)
3+ years working in Travel, Meetings & Events and Corporate Card categories
Requires advanced knowledge of job area combining breadth and depth, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
Project management experience
Strong communication skills
Strong analytical skills
Experience with healthcare professional (HCP) travel & meetings and relationship to Concur and Cvent
Strong cross-functional team facilitation skills
Ability to influence for results in a matrixed and global organization
Proven demonstrated results producing significant cost savings/value in contracting
Experience drafting contracts and leading negotiations
C.P.M. or CPSM Certification
Ability to perform in fast-paced environment
Ability to perform in virtual environment
Ability to provide change leadership and accelerate change
Previous experience and/or expertise with multiple indirect commodities
