The Director of HR will be responsible for leading a team of HR professionals to manage MVM’s 800 decentralized employees in the US, Cuba and Puerto Rico. This position reports directly to MVM Leadership and will be accountable to a Corporate Board of Advisors.
The emotionally intelligent HR Director will manage a full lifecycle HR function with primary focus on employee relations, talent acquisition and compliance in a fast-paced complex operation. The agile HR Director will model MVM’s culture of high-touch employee engagement, making sound decisions with empathy and firmness, modeling and setting the bar for leadership, integrity and accountability.
Job Essential Functions
Manage a team of six HR Business Partners and Recruiters to deliver a quality employee, candidate and customer experience
Strategic advisor to MVM Leadership on all employment related matters, ensuring contractual and legal compliance
Track, analyze and communicate to MVM Leadership and Board of Directors key success metrics to include but not limited to; attrition, retention, employee relations and new hire onboarding
Possess high levels of emotional intelligence, professional agility, and managerial courage to make decisions and provide feedback even when met with opposition
Makes sound quick decisions relying upon analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement
Employee Experience
Leverage MVM tools, technologies and resources to ensure HR team can meet the business needs of over 800 decentralized field employees
Ensures all employee relations matters are managed timely and in compliance while striking a balance of both compassion and firmness
Employ leading employee retention techniques to minimize attrition and increase productivity
Monitor effectiveness of the company’s new-hire orientation and on-boarding programs and revise them as necessary to meet the changing needs of the company and staff
Ensure HR team meets the administrative employee-related needs to include but not limited to; workers compensation, unemployment and leave
Create and facilitate communication among employees and management; guide managers and employees on problem solving and dispute resolution
Execute company-wide performance management for leadership staff
Successfully guide healthcare enrollment and ensure employees are educated on available total compensation benefits
Proactively audit and coordinate established procedures, systems and standards for HR operations
Ensure MVM remains compliant with the Service Contract Act and communicates any SCA Administration concerns to the Board of Directors
Proactively stay up-to-date on industry trends and constantly recommends best practices and process improvements
Candidate Experience
Lead team of Recruiters to deliver high quality staff to meet MVM business demands
Manage Recruitment team to guarantee a positive candidate experience from requisition branding through onboarding
Ensure all Recruitment processes are compliant with Federal, State and OFCCP guidelines
Collaborate across the organization to optimize staff forecasting and introduce new ideas to operational leadership to help ensure staffing levels are maintained
Develop and monitor processes and procedures to assure the company is hiring the best and brightest talent in the market
Participate on interview team for leadership positions
Employee Experience
Lead all Employee related matters across MVM in collaboration with MVM Leadership and Corporate Counsel
Ensure HR team is available to assist and guide operational teams and employees on all employment relations matters
Provide training for management on all employment related material including but not limited to; employment laws, employee coaching, company recruiting and hiring procedures
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Related field with HR Certification and/or master’s degree preferred
10+ years of experience in managing the human resource function of a mid-sized, multi-location company with hourly and salaried employees. Experience with Service Contract Act a plus.
Expertise in leading unbiased, complex internal investigations.
Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills
Proficiency in enterprise wide HRIS systems, Workday preferred, and strong Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Spanish bi-lingual preferred, though not required
Well-grounded in modern recruitment tools & techniques and proficient in both Federal and State employment law
Detail oriented and good organizational skills
Skilled in both oral and written communications
Creative and innovative with the ability to adapt style to match audience
