Basic Purpose/Job Function: The Advanced Radar Research Center’s Finance and Reporting Associate will take an active role in supporting project initiatives. As a vital member of the project management team this role contributes to the organization through the tracking, processing, and auditing of financial transactions (e.g., project expenditures, Pcard transactions, grant budgets, payroll processing, etc.). This position will also develop, distribute, and support reporting for key stakeholders. The Finance and Reporting associate will assume the stewardship of internal business processes and be empowered to identify and promote process improvement opportunities.
This position requires discretion and independent judgment as well as a comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply, basic accounting principles, university policies, procedures, practices and administrative organizational structure, collection and analysis of data and basic problem-solving techniques.
Typical Functions May Include:
Fiscal Management: Fiscally responsible for managing recurring operational budgets as assigned. Review and approve financial transactions such as but not limited to cost, budget, and payroll transfers. Oversee and may assist with processing all payments including vendors invoices, individual reimbursements, and other accounts payable and receivables, and discrepancies as required.
Pcard audits and approvals. Including Allocating and reconciling for the department as required.
Account/Grant Monitoring: Monitors departmental accounts, grants, accounts payable transactions, spending activity, etc. Manage collection, reconciliation, and processing of payroll charges against awards. Works with multiple sources of funding which may include sponsored research, and federal restricted funds, grants and contracts.
Data Maintenance: Apply various collection methods for extraction, transformation, and storage of data from internal and enterprise applications. Maintain databases, spreadsheets, and other data repositories.
Data Quality: Establish and/or manage internal accounting record keeping systems. Ensure data accuracy through regular quality checks; Performs audits to assure accuracy and compliance with internal and external regulations.
Reporting: Create, maintain, analyze, and distribute reporting objects. Research, collect, and analyze data for ad hoc requests or communication to faculty, PIs, Program Managers, ARRC Directors and Sponsors.
Process Excellence: Manage internal processes as assigned. Support knowledge management activities by maintaining up-to-date documentation. Collaborate with others to map, identify, and promote best practices as well as improve work processes.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or other related fields Or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND:
48 months of of financial administration or data and reporting analysis experience
Skills:
Ability to speak, read and write clear, concise English.
Basic math skills
Knowledge of standard bookkeeping and accounting practices
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Excel: advanced skills with the ability to connect to and query data sources, create pivot tables & charts as well as build and manipulate spreadsheets.

24 months of experience with financial management / accounting in a higher education environment.
