Postdoctoral Fellow in the epigenetic regulation of retinal development
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jeff Gross ( www.jeffgrosslab.org ) in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our lab is broadly interested in eye development, regeneration, disease and evolution with ongoing projects in each of these areas. We're currently looking to add a new postdoctoral fellow to the group to focus on a project involving the roles of DNA methylation and hydroxymethylation during retinal development and the specification/differentiation of retinal neurons using the zebrafish as a model system. The project combines experimental and computational approaches. Indeed, interested candidates will have the ability to learn some computational by working with our long-term collaborator, Dr. Dennis Kostka, also faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Successful candidates should have a recent PhD in developmental biology, cell/molecular biology, neuroscience, genetics or related fields. They should also have expertise in epigenetics and retinal research. Most importantly, they should be creative, possess a keen interest in biology and a collaborative spirit.
