JOB SUMMARY
The Enterprise Master Patient Index Specialist reports to the Enterprise Master Patient Index Coordinator. This position has the responsibility of analyzing system reports and data for potential duplicate medical record and corporate numbers and overlays from the various information systems of Beacon Health System. The Enterprise Master Patient Index Specialist resolves the overlays and combines as identified through various reports and other information.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
The above level of knowledge, skills, and abilities are normally acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma. Previous experience of one year minimum in a medical insurance billing, admitting, physician office or hospital office experience is required. A recent RHIT program graduate or current student in an RHIT program will be considered.
Knowledge & Skills
Requires critical thinking skills and analytical skills necessary to independently evaluate data and make decisions based upon this analysis.
Excellent keyboarding skills. Minimum 40 wpm.
Ability to perform large volumes of repetitious tasks while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
Computer terminal experience and basic working knowledge of common business software including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, required.
Effective time management skills.
Ability to work independently for long periods of time and also as a team member.
Working knowledge and experience of MPI job functions preferred.
Knowledge and experience of healthcare industry or health information systems preferred.
Medical record/HIM experience is desirable but not required.

Working Conditions
Works in an office environment.
May experience some mental/visual fatigue from careful and constant review of computer screens and data.
Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit and use hands and specific vision abilities of close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
