What You’ll Contribute to OHM Advisors

As a planner aide, you will interface with project team members, our clients, contractors, and other technical experts and disciplines regarding project-related items. Flexibility and desire to work on varying planning projects.

Your Responsibilities


  • Assist with gathering and preparing data for various planning projects and presentations.

  • Conduct fieldwork to collect parcel and other community conditions information.

  • Prepare maps and planning reports of limited or variable complexity.

  • Produce sketches and renderings of limited or variable complexity.

  • Assist at community meetings with registration and some facilitation.

  • Researches funding sources and assists with grant proposal writing.

  • Preparing document layout and graphics.

What You’ll Need to Succeed


  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Sociology, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resources, Business) and some completed coursework in planning at the Masters level.

  • Good understanding of planning principles and Michigan planning laws.

  • Knowledge of design principles and competency with design software.

  • Competency in various computer software programs. (e.g. Microsoft Office and Adobe)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  • Motivated self-starter able to work independently.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
