Staff Accountant at Woodfin Heating Inc in Richmond, Virginia

Job Description:

We are looking to connect with recent college graduates interested in developing their career as an accounting professional. Woodfin Heating Inc.’s Staff Accountant will be offered a chance to develop over time, starting with a significant focus on accounts payables and adding additional accounting responsibilities as you are ready. The Staff Accountant will also be able to showcase their technical strengths by working with team members to effectively manage accurate input of data into our various accounting and computer operating systems. Responsibilities: 

• Work with internal customers to verify invoices are accurately coded


• Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports


• Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions


• Schedule and prepare vendor payments


• Resolve invoice and payment discrepancies; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos


• Perform month-end close activities including accruals, reconciliations, P/L data refreshes and variance explanations, and other associated data entry


• Complete special projects as assigned to support the overall success of the department


• Must continually demonstrate a drive to start and complete personal projects


• Consistently perform duties with high degree of accuracy and efficiency

• Recent graduate with a degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Business, or similar program


• 1-3 years of verifiable work experience managing payables; previous internship experience will be considered


• Aptitude for learning and operating multiple computer systems – Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Outlook, Word, Etc) and various accounting systems (Sage Intacct Etc)


• Hands-on experience managing company payables


• Able to analyze, model, and interpret data


• Experienced with combining large volumes of data for consolidated reporting


• A self-starter with the ability to work in a team setting
