Summary:

The Staff SW Development Engineer will be responsible in developing tools and framework that enable the testing of low power wireless technology. The position requires a strong technical understanding of embedded systems, both firmware and hardware.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Strong knowledge on Link Layer, L2CAP, Host and controller interface of a BLE stack.

  • Sound knowledge on BLE specifications (Core Spec 5.0 /4.2)

  • Troubleshoots code for firmware (IC embedded code) applications.

  • Work often involves analog and digital hardware and software operating systems.

  • Position requires knowledge and exposure to hardware design.

  • Support the test team in automating the feature validations of Dexcom CGM Transmitter

  • Support the test team in automating the feature validations of Dexcom Medical Receiver

  • Record task status and track issues in the bug tracking system.

  • Analyze failures and collaborate with Firmware Engineers to ensure root cause as investigated.

  • Strong knowledge on understanding of IOS, Android, IOT based BLE logs .

  • Analyze field performance both from customer and partner data sets that might include manufacturing data, supplier data and cloud data.

  • Be hands on and setting up user simulated tests to re-create reported issues.

  • Update documentation when needed for application notes, firmware and hardware change requests, defect tracking system (JIRA) and other needs.

  • Be very familiar with design and requirement documents and be able to refer to them when needed.

  • Communicate status to cross functional teams.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5+ years of related experience.

  • Minimum of 4+ years of C/C++ (Embedded) development

  • Ability to work in a fast paced / dynamic team environment and possess time management skills to meet schedules.

  • Experience in test frameworks (e.g. Junit) and IDE (e.g. Eclipse).

  • Moderate experience with Android and/or iOS devices, including debugging, installation, and configuration.

  • Firmware testing experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity using Lab Test Equipment

  • Strong written skills and ability to follow Dexcom software procedures and generate required software documentation.

  • Review product specifications, software requirements, and software design specifications.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 8-12 years related experience or Master's degree and 5-7 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 2-4 years of experience.

Functional Description:

Plans, designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools. Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet-related computer programs. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance.
