The Area Sales Manager's job responsibilities include but not limited to discovering, qualifying and successfully advancing new opportunities consistent with the sales and marketing plan of the company. Expanding and managing accounts largely tied to small and medium enterprises in Houston, Texas and in New Orleans, LA. Responsibilities includes but not limited to analyzing market data, logging sales activity and effective interdepartmental collaboration to generate additional revenue. The Area Sales Manager will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with meeting customer metrics and fiscal responsibilities while operating within the company guidelines. The qualified candidate must have previous sales / account management experience with logistics industry proven results a positive.
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Work with existing accounts to grow revenue and market share in regional and national markets
Identify, prospect, and foster the growth of new business partnerships
Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for sales objectives
Ability to anticipate and interpret customer needs and business challenges
Resolve operational issues that impact the local sales revenue
Work as a liaison between Customer and Forward Air, on macro and micro levels
Interpret internal/external business issues and prioritize activity based off of most pressing business needs
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Measure and analyze key performance indicators (KPI's); performance tracking, errors, and weekly/monthly/quarterly volume and revenue figures
The ability to manage and react to day-to-day sales requirements in a professional and timely manner
Must schedule and attend meetings, calls and work on day to day tasks with highly effective time management skills.
Will be working with customers nationally that have 24 hour operations and will need to be responsive to needs that include rare night and weeke assistance

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 2 + years' experience in an account management sales role. A combination of education and/or extensive experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree
Must have LTL or 3PL sales experience or background in either industries
Proven Track record of experience and successes in a prior sales position(s)
Have strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressureAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of management and sell key company services based on current corporate objectives
Highly motivated sales professional with an entrepreneurial spirit
Must have the ability to relate to and work well with different personalities. Must be outgoing and friendly and have the ability to generate sales revenue through partnerships
Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time
Must be able to work flexible hours
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products including; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
