If you are a Software Developer looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Austin, Texas location, you will become a member of one of the cross-functional agile scrum teams responsible for the development of DeltaV. DeltaV is the state of the art, flagship distributed process control system from Process Systems and Solutions. It consists of a variety of rich desktop and web applications used for engineering and operating a process control system as well as the embedded field devices running the control. Successful applicants would be expected to enhance and maintain existing products as well as develop the next generation DeltaV system. This candidate’s focus will primarily be applications development in a Microsoft Windows environment, using C# and C++, with the opportunity to learn about and work on other parts of the system like the embedded real-time environment. AS A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER, YOU WILL:
Generate user stories and software designs in accordance with marketing, architecture and human centered design requirements and specifications.
Use best practices to build high-quality software that meets our stringent definition of done for an agile increment.
Help the scrum team continuously improve its environment and processes
Participate in agile activities like sprint planning, retrospectives, and program increment planning
Collaborate with the team’s product owner and with other scrum teams to integrate new features
Debug and validate software issues with unreleased and released software, including customer issues.
Review and provide detailed feedback on peers’ design and code
Develop estimates and effectively communicate status to the team
Write automated unit tests and acceptance tests
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related engineering field and 4+ years of related experience or a master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related engineering field and 3+ years of related experience
Experience with Windows application development in C# or C++
Experience using object-oriented design techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively collaborate in a scrum team environment with disciplined development practices
Experience with Microsoft development tools and an understanding of the Windows operating system
Ability to travel occasionally including internationally
Legal authorization to work in the United States
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Experience working in an Agile Scrum Team
Experience with software testing, including test driven development and automation
Experience with UML, MFC, WPF, HTML5, C++, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, DCOM, WCF, SQL and Objectivity DB.
Experience working in embedded development
Knowledge and experience working in the process control industry
Technical expertise with DeltaV, controller and I/O
Experience working with a large development organization using SAFe
