Position Summary:

Our Employee Communications team requires a full-time, seasoned professional to develop and execute a scalable approach to leadership and internal communication to and within priority areas of the business.

The successful candidate will be collegial, data-driven, and business-minded-equally comfortable and effective when working autonomously as well as within a team-with proven experience in delivering targeted communication programs that drive employee alignment, engagement, and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Serve as a communications business partner to key functions to ensure that communication efforts are integrated and aligned, to create and execute change management plans, to facilitate a clear and consistent articulation of business strategy and joint objectives, and to role model communication best practice and collaboration across the organization.

  • With the Senior Director of Employee Communication, design a creative approach to communicating to drive outcomes; ensure objectives are clearly articulated and integrated across Dexcom's global teams and functions.

  • Provide communications counsel, planning and execution for leaders in human resources, IT other enabling functions in particular, and other business leaders in general, as dictated by business priorities and objectives.

  • Develop and disseminate compelling content, measure effectiveness, and drive for continual improvement. Distill large amounts of complex information into simple, compelling, and repeatable messages.

  • Execute a balanced cadence of broadcast and interpersonal communication across business areas, including email distribution, organizational updates, program initiatives, intranet publishing, town hall meetings, etc.

  • Cultivate honest and transparent communication among senior leaders, mid-level managers, and front-line employees, and partner with leadership and HR to shape culture within and beyond business areas.

  • Develop and distribute communication capacity and capability across the organization through training and guidance for people leaders and by harnessing a network of communicators.

  • Meaningfully contribute to the overall effectiveness and impact of Employee Communication.

Required Qualifications:


  • A bachelor's degree or higher and eight or more years of relevant communications experience

  • A problem-solving and growth-oriented mindset, and the demonstrated ability to prioritize and re-prioritize wisely

  • Strong business acumen, excellent networking and relationship-building skills, and the confidence to effectively interact with various levels of business leadership

  • Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, diplomacy, and project management skills

  • A proven ability to understand, simplify, and effectively communicate complex information

  • Self-direction, and the capacity to influence with or without authority and earn leadership buy-in

  • Proficiency with relevant communication platforms

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 13+ years of related experience. At this level a graduate degree may be expected with 6 years of related experience.

Travel Required:

  • Up to 25%

Functional Description: Professional Individual Contributor

Writes, edits, reviews and oversees release of internal communication documents and programs that support the organization. Edits and enhances internal communication materials, including intranet, newsletters, emails/memos, webcasts and speeches. Reviews and edits essential internal communications prior to dissemination to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appropriateness. Ensures a "corporate voice" permeates messaging to employees and stakeholders. Coordinates internal communication efforts with those provided by others who focus on external communications (i.e., marketing communications, investor relations). Works closely with executive management team and departments to keep abreast of company developments and trends. May assist with the development and implementation of new and existing communication vehicles.

  • May develop new approaches and applications of programs or systems to lead processes in new direction.

  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.

  • May oversee the activities of others.

Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
