The VDC Production Manager is responsible for the implementation of BMW Group recommended procedures and quality standards at Port Jersey Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) in Jersey City. He / She monitors ship arrivals, compares the supply of vehicles to wholesale objectives, draws up Daily Production Plans and communicates it to all internal sections.

The Production Manager is responsible for, but not limited to:





  • Managing and coordinating daily work relationship with Port Authorities, car handlers and Shipping Lines to ensure smooth flow of vehicles into the facility.



  • Prioritization process and survey processes.



  • Reviewing supply information and produce planning information for all sections of the facility,



  • Responsible for the movement, storage and sorting of units in the port and within facility



  • Operation of Pre-Delivery Inspection



  • Ensuring that units for wholesale are prioritized and processed on time according to the Regional delivery schedule; meet BMW group quality standards and dealer expectations; and are processed cost efficiently.



  • Setting objectives for the work force, regarding time off schedule, processing times, quantity, and quality in all areas of operation and monitor performance and efficiency.



  • Motivates, manages, and supervises the production area workforce as a group and evaluates individual performance



  • Assigning headcount to various areas of production and accessory / quick repair areas to ensure achievement of daily objectives.



  • Performing and maintaining time studies.



  • The implementation of changes/updates recommended by Engineering in the production areas.



  • Coordinates Vehicle Quality Audits with the Quality Manager.
