Job Description:

The Best Buy Seattle Technology Development Center is seeking a Director, Product - Best Buy Health - Health Apps. This person will lead a product team that develops mobile applications that are critical parts of delivering our consumer Health offerings through Great Call, and our Virtual Care experiences. Transforming the role of mobile technology to support aging seniors, caregivers, and patients in need of virtual care and monitoring is at the center of the team’s mission, and the director of product will play a critical role in defining and realizing our strategy.

This leader will be an advocate for users, a creative problem solver, and an impactful leader. They will have a demonstrated history of defining and delivering solutions that meet the needs of the user, accomplishing this both through their work, and by leading and inspiring teams. This leader will also be accountable for driving modern development practices while enabling human-centered design to deliver against key outcomes.

You will work with engineering teams, user experience designers, and key stakeholders within the Best Buy Health organization to build mobile app products that drive meaningful impact for our customers and our business. The ideal candidate for this role would have a unique blend of experience comprised of product management acumen, experience building and leading healthy and productive teams, a passion to deliver on behalf of users, and experience creating compelling, mobile-optimized experiences, and experience creating digital experiences and tool in support of Health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities


  • Work with business, UX and technology leaders across the organization to understand customer needs & vision

  • Effectively translate the needs and vision into activities that will deliver meaningful customer experiences

  • Evaluate value, feasibility, and business viability risks prior to making investments in new technologies

  • Creates practices to measure the success of mobile experiences and continuously improve the product

  • Refine the practices used by the team, including vision definition, outcome-based planning, and ongoing stakeholder collaboration

  • Define and implement the framework needed to coordinate across multiple roadmaps throughout the organization

  • Analyze product performance through qualitative and quantitative analysis tools and processes

  • Understand all sides of potential prioritization or trade-off decisions and make decisions to best enable necessary outcomes

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the retail industry, customer, and technology trends

Manage and lead a team

  • Structure, lead, coach, and inspire multiple teams of product managers, while creating an inclusive team culture that enables all members of the product teams to thrive (e.g., UX, engineering)

  • Provide strategic and day-to-day guidance to a dynamic team of product managers

  • Identify needed skills and capabilities and work to fill those roles as needed, including, recruiting and hiring, training, and new tools and processes to enable the team

  • Provide mentoring and advisory perspectives across the broader team to ensure outcome-based, user-centered product work is embraced throughout the organization

  • Deeply understand the value of, and the ability to, enable collaboration between designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, business owners, and executives

  • Understand funding mechanisms and manage multiple budgets to build teams that meet desired outcomes

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive background of work that demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill in product management

  • Demonstrated understanding with varied software delivery methodologies and user-centered design practices

  • Understands the potential application of new technologies and how customer experiences could benefit from them

  • Extensive experience generating and/or applying all forms of customer insights, including quantitative and qualitative research and other customer signals from search, digital, and social data

  • Ability to effectively communicate design and technology concepts to stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships at all levels and ensuring teams create a collaborative culture

  • Previous experience within or collaborating with user experience or retail operations teams

  • Ability to work in ambiguity and break-down ambiguity into actionable items

  • Ability to navigate internal and external landscapes

  • Excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in IT, computer science, engineering, business, design, human computer interaction or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 6 or more years of experience within product team disciplines (e.g. product management, user experience, engineering)

  • 5 or more years of direct people management and demonstrated success developing engaged, inclusive teams

  • 5 or more years of experience managing budgets and resource allocation

  • 5 or more years of experience with consumer-facing software applications

  • 1 or more years of experience in healthcare related products
