Position IDEAL Resident Assistant
Primary Responsibility

Resident Assistants (RAs) are selected to aid the Residence Hall Directors in establishing positive relationships with students and in maintaining the overall operation of the residence halls. They are directly responsible to the IDEAL Residential Coordinator (IRC) and the Dean of Student Life and to the Office of Student Life. This position would specifically work with residential students in the IDEAL program.

Education

High school diploma, some college

Experience

Experience with students with disabilities or previous IDEAL peer mentor preferred.

Job Related Skills

1. A student at Lipscomb University who personally supports the objectives and policies of the university.

2.Must have a 2.50 grade-point average upon application and must not be on any type of official probation (academic, behavior, Bible, or chapel) during his/her employment.

3.Personal attributes of high caliber (i.e., maturity, integrity, spirituality, dependability, unselfishness, sensitivity, commitment to service) as determined by application, references, and interviews.

4.Capable of maintaining confidentiality with regard to personal student problems and privileged information discussed in staff meetings.

Additional Comments & Information

1. Must have a personal schedule flexible enough to permit devoting up to 15 active hours of work per week with an awareness of the ongoing responsibilities of a RA beyond the hourly requirement.

2. Must have two free nights Monday-Thursday (no classes, no club meetings, not practice, etc.).

3. Must be available and on campus during the weekends. (IRC will work with RA for weekends off)

4. Must be able to transport IDEAL students to store, pharmacy, etc. on an as needed basis.

8.Manage emergency situations

9.Create an "open door" environment
