A Brief Summary of This Position

This is an Individual Contributor position with the Site Pro 1 in the Telecom division. Working under the direction of the Facility Manager, and within the guidelines of established procedures, the Picker/Packer/Shipper is responsible for selecting the appropriate hardware and tower components per the customer's packing slip, packaging the materials and shipping them to the customer. The incumbent has a direct effect on the level of customer service Valmont provides as a shipment error or incomplete shipment could cost our customer downtime. This position requires close attention to detail to accurately pick and pack the correct parts. Those parts are then prepared for shipment and the appropriate documentation is sent with each order. Parts are shipped by LTL or through a designated carrier. The incumbent also participates in projects within the facility and works in a manner consistent with company safety policies.

Essential Functions

• Operate the following pieces of production equipment: forklifts


• Accurately pick, pack, and ship items based on customer orders


• Inventory control activities including cycle counts


• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is 20 pounds


• Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as work in non-temperature controlled environment


• Ability to stand/walk up to 100% of shift

• This position reports into the Facility Manager and has no direct reports

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

• High school diploma/GED and 6+ months of relevant education/work experience


• The ability to perform basic mathematical functions


• The ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, accurately


• The ability to work over overtime, as business needs require


• Experience operating a personal computer

• 1+ year of previous experience working in a warehouse facility


• The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines


• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner and be an integral part of a team environment
