Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

A Refrigeration Technician maintains, diagnoses, repairs, rebuilds, adjusts, and performs preventive maintenance, installing equipment, and keeping production operational. Refrigeration Technicians assist other maintenance personnel, and are responsible for all necessary paperwork and documentation relating to assigned tasks.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Working knowledge of basic refrigeration principles and electrical systems


• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety rules and regulations


• Maintain daily logs for operations and events of refrigeration equipment


• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels, recirculators, purgers, evaporators, heat exchangers, control/isolation valves, etc. 


• Pass a physical, pulmonary test, respirator fit test and meet the requirements for Haz-Mat team on an annual basis


• Adhere to all Company safety requirements including PPE usage


• Adhere to Lock out-Tag out procedures and Process Safety Management (PSM) 


• All other relevant duties as required

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• 1+ years electrical experience, and troubleshooting in low and high voltage circuits, motors, and controls


• 1+ years experience in operation and maintenance of Ammonia Refrigeration systems


• Strong reading, math, writing, and analytical skills  


• Practical knowledge of computers


• Self motivated with ability to work unsupervised

Physical/Environmental Factors:

• Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees


• Stand/walk throughout work day


• Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels


• Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, bend and lift 50+ lbs as needed 


• Exposure to strong, raw odors


• Manual dexterity of hands and wrists
