We are looking for a Buyer II who is responsible for planning and procurement of production materials, maintaining inventory and replenishment levels, managing supplier relationships, and coordination with all internal departments on Engineering changes and new product introduction.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Research products prepares purchase orders and places orders and selects vendors.

  • Organize product information and tracks back orders.

  • Obtain materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source and urgency of need.

  • Study market trends, interviews vendors, and recommends sources of supply.

  • Assist Supply Chain Manager by analyzing quotations received, recommends suppliers and have active involvement in supplier qualification activities including scheduling deliveries.

  • Develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation.

  • Responsible for implementing activities related to procurement and acquisition production materials, to support company goals for quality, optimum cost, and delivery.

  • Under guidance from Supply Chain Manager ensure critical parameters in purchasing system for part numbers are set up appropriately for optimized inventory levels

  • Evaluate order messages from Purchasing System, Follow Purchasing Process including filling Purchasing Requests and Prepare purchase orders to meet production/forecasted demand.

  • Analyze and adjust ordering parameters in Purchasing system as needed with approval from Supply Chain Manager

  • Maintain healthy supplier relationships to assure on time delivery, expedites, defers and cancellations of orders.

  • Develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient operation.

  • Resolve basic issues and problems like mismatch in PO pricing, Invoices and Accounts payables.

  • Place purchase orders for internal departments based on approved purchase requisitions.

  • Communicate effectively across Suppliers, Production, Quality and Engineering on ECN’s for component/assembly changes to ensure smooth transition with overall total cost of ownership mentality.

  • Communicate effectively across multiple departments (Receiving, Quality, Scheduling, Customer Service, Spares/Shipping, Accounting, Production and Engineering) on status of inventory items and specific purchase requests.

  • Review supplier requests for drawings, submit drawing request review to engineering and respond to supplier with updates.

  • Obtain quotes from outside suppliers, request inhouse rework for components changes as needed by engineering, quality and production.

  • Provide the best customer service with a can-do positive and professional attitude towards internal customers and suppliers to achieve the best results for FBD and FBD’s customers.

  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Job Requirements:


  • Must possess a Bachelors’ Degree in related field.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, buying/purchasing in a manufacturing or similar environment.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of ERP/Purchasing software experience is a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills; must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet established deadlines.

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization.  Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must possess valid state driver’s license.

  • Must have excellent integrity, initiative, interpersonal savvy, adaptable, problem solving, plan and organize, attention to detail, accountable, assertive, innovation and safety skills.

  • Must have excellent communication skills because of daily contact with production, engineering, supply chain and quality.  Must communicate in a clear and concise manner, have good listening skills, be confident, assertive and respectful.

  • Must be fluent in English which includes reading: the ability to read and understand words written in English, writing: the ability to formulate written words in English, comprehending: the ability to follow and understand speech in English and speaking: the ability to produce speech in English and be understood.

  • Must possess good math.

  • Must possess critical thinking skills.

  • Must be able to pass background check, drug test, credit check and reference checks.
