JOB SUMMARY

The Housekeeper performs skilled and routine maintenance and tasks necessary to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the unit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Clean assigned areas as directed by management and in compliance with the Company's "green" initiatives.
  • Responsible for the deep cleaning of 10 - 13 rooms per day;
  • Change linens and make beds.
  • Dust and clean all furniture, picture frames, mirrors, windows, baseboards, carpet edges, inside and outside door panels, door ledges, and thresholds.
  • Wipe handrails and door knobs around the facility in the morning (both floors)
  • Pull trash from trash receptacles. Replace trash bags as needed. Clear trash from tables and floors/grounds.
  • Clean and vacuum under beds, desk, gaming tables, and behind night stands.
  • Check and replace all missing items in rooms, including soaps, shampoos, conditioners, hangers, clocks, ice bucket liners, hair dryers, brochures, and stationery, etc.
  • Clean and ensure bathtubs, tub ledges, sinks, vanity shelves, toilets, bathroom scales, tissue box covers, and soap dishes are spot, mold, mildew, and dust free.
  • Sweep and mop all bathroom floors.
  • Dust all lights and sconces, make-up mirrors, and lampshades.
  • Perform laundry duties as assigned.
  • Notify Supervisor of all quality control issues or needed repairs pertaining to the housekeeping of the facility.
  • Maintain awareness of safety issues, and report them immediately to your manager.
  • Reports any needed repairs of community -owned property to the Engineering Service Department.
  • Reports any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.
  • Promptly answers housekeeping calls and paging systems.
  • Participates in all scheduled team member meetings, and other community -wide Team Member meetings as requested.
  • Participates in voluntary and mandatory on-going education and in-service training.
  • Uses effective verbal and non-verbal communication to present information in a positive and non threatening way.
  • Demonstrates good practice of infection control principles by understanding the infectious process and modes of disease transmission, and by using appropriate hand washing techniques.
  • Demonstrates understanding and support of Resident Rights by: providing for resident privacy; maintaining resident confidentiality; promotes the residents right to make personal choices to accommodate their needs; reinforces behavior consistent with resident dignity; assists resident to participate in acti vities.
  • Maintains a safe environment by: keeping the community safe, clean and comfortable; recognizing environmental safety hazards, understands the methods to prevent on-the-job accidents and injuries; using safe practices when 02 is in use; identifying and following the community's disaster plans; can describe and follow the community's fire procedure, including the operation of fire extinguishers and ways to prevent fires; planning for the safe use and maintenance of equipment; practicing good infection control procedures.
  • Performs and completes assignments within established procedures and guidelines.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the RCFE Administrator and Executive Director.
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
  • Be at least 18 years of age with a valid High School diploma or GED equivalent. At least one (1) of experience working as a housekeeper in an Assisted Living Community. Must meet qualifications as required by the Department of Social Services for a RCFE Community.
  • Strong sanitation habits and an ability to learn and follow important safety precautions.
  • Strong customer service abilities; actively looks for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management.
  • Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out oral or written instructions. Ability to define problems, collect information and other data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete as well as abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet search engines, etc.
  • Requires a thorough working knowledge and understanding of practices, procedures and policies pertaining to Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly.
  • Ability to adhere to Company standards.
  • Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills with an ability to plan, prioritize, and execute tasks in an efficient manner without sacrificing quality and accuracy; ability to interface effectively with co-workers, medical providers, customers and families, and general public; and a demonstrate a pleasant and professional demeanor.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 35 lbs. regularly, 45 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for the entire work day and to climb steps regularly.
  • Withstanding temperature extremes in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Works in wet and slippery conditions. Frequently works in a hot and damp environment.
  • Frequently immerses hands in water.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English.
  • Constantly communicates and receives verbal communication with other employees in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The job requires travel of approximately 0% - 5%

  • Cleaning Supplies (including detergents, chemicals, vacuums, mops, brooms, scourers, hand towels, etc.).
