About the Role:

Supports producing monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the Accounting leadership team in achieving the department's goals. Prepares journal entries; maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts. Provides records of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions. Supports internal and external auditor requests. Ensures accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations. May interpret reports and records for managers.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):


  • Assists with the financial close process each month in accordance with the close schedule. Under direct supervision, may be responsible for part of the close


  • Maintains Company fixed assets in Great Plains


  • Prepares bank reconciliations


  • Supports preparation of supporting workpapers for journal entries and account reconciliations


  • Prepares assigned internal and external financial statements, may include SEC reporting, and performs monthly reviews of the financial statements and analyzes monthly variances against historical performances


  • Documents and maintains internal controls in compliance with SOX 404. Documents accounting policies and procedures. Maintains a good working knowledge of the guidelines set forth by GAAP as they apply to the Company. Researches and documents accounting treatment for business transactions


  • Assists in the preparation of financial information requested by the external auditors during the quarterly reviews and annual audits


  • Participates in projects to implement new systems and optimize the utilization of existing systems


  • Supports multiple department or process accruals. Partners with department finance partner(s) to analyze contracts and financial results and provide support for financial forecasting


  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:


  • BS/BA degree and 2+ years of relevant experience


  • Analytical thinking


  • Strong problem-solving


  • Prior experience with ERP Systems such as GreatPlains


  • Strong Excel skills


  • Able to work under critical time constraints


  • Always acts with high integrity


  • High energy, strong sense of urgency, self-motivated and results-oriented


  • Experience in accounting field with emphasis on general ledger and fixed assets


  • Understands Neurocrine's business objectives and developing understanding of Neurocrine's services and customers


  • Has experience in specific functional discipline while working to acquire higher-level knowledge and skills


  • Comfortable with tools and processes that support work conducted by functional area


  • Strong computer skills


  • Detail oriented


  • Ability to meet deadlines


  • Good project management skills


  • Excellent analytical, organization, planning and communication skills


  • Capable of driving operational excellence and working in teams/partnerships
