Responsibilities

The Systems Engineer role is to build, monitor, troubleshoot, implement, and support technical systems and operations.

 

The Systems Engineer will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues as part of the overall effort to provide the highest quality service in support of the organization’s administrative and health care functions. This role will provide 3rd tier technical support for core systems and applications. They will assist System Administrators with projects and troubleshooting. The Systems Engineer will participate in design and implementation for core technical projects and may lead the development and implementation of specific projects or platforms.

 

The primary duty is to maintain and implement security layers to protect the usability and integrity of company’s network and data. It includes both hardware and software technologies. Other duties include maintaining but not limited to Active Directory, Exchange, file sharing, VMware virtual servers and desktops, Telecommunications and storage.

 

This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues as part of the overall effort to provide the highest quality service in support of the organization’s administrative and health care functions.

  • Provide 3rd Tier (1st tier as needed) support for desktop, server, storage, telecom and network systems.

  • Participate in the design, planning and implementation of technical projects.

  • Administration of VDI and virtual server environments.

  • Actively monitor the health of core systems, networking equipment, and Unified Communications.

  • Provide review and oversight of critical procedures such as account creation, backup jobs, and server patching to ensure requirements for effectiveness and security are being met.

  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.

  • Prepare detailed documentation of systems, services, applications, security, and controls.

  • Assist in the planning, design, and development of new application and enhancements to existing applications.

  • Provide transitional support during the development and implementation of a simplified client computing platform to deliver a more reliable, accessible, and easier to use environment.

  • Assist with maintenance and operations of disaster recovery.

  • Travel between Orange and San Bernardino Counties locations for support.

  • Work with Systems Operation’s team and Help Desk team members and assist them with troubleshooting or different technical tasks.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:

  • IT Certifications such as VCA, VCP, CISSP, CEH, S+, MCSE, MTA, and CCNA Security is a major plus. 

Minimum Education:

  • BS in computer science or related field preferred or a proven combination education and/or experience.

Minimum Work Experience:

Required:


  • Minimum of 5+ years in managing servers and desktop infrastructure solutions.

  • Minimum 3+ years managing a virtual environment with VMWare

  • Minimum of 4+ years in Microsoft server platforms and troubleshooting core software applications such as AD, GPO, DHCP, DNS, IP, Exchange.

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience with Cisco phone system, routers, switches and firewalls.

  • Minimum 4+ experience years in a System Administrator/Engineer or similar role. 

Preferred:


  • Experience in system/network security is a major plus.

  • Experience with Citrix XenDesktop.

  • Experience with VMWare Horizon.

  • Experience with Cylance.

  • Experience with Cisco ASA/Palo Alto.

  • Experience with Citrix ADC/Load Balancing technologies

  • Experience working with SAN Technologies such as Pure storage and Kaminario.

  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems.

  • Strong grasp of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.

  • Skills and/or experience with application and services delivered via web technologies.

  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, implementation, and support of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products.

  • Experience with batch file scripting and PowerShell scripting preferred.
