Working closely with other staff members and having 24/7 accountability, the Assistant Director of Laboratory Services must be readily available to share their expertise and knowledge during any pressing issues. Collaborating with other departments, the Assistant Director of Laboratory Services must be able to work well with others in an efficient and effective manner.

The Assistant Director of Laboratory Services will be required to effectively utilize the non-clinical staff according to their strengths and weaknesses, and implement corresponding trainings to target any weaknesses amongst the staff. Creating an environment that fosters teamwork and continuous learning, the Assistant Director of Laboratory Services must encourage open communication to ensure the staff are meeting their professional and developmental goals. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Laboratory Services must keep confidentiality of all results of processed specimens, and be able to communicate these findings with the appropriate parties. Working closely with the laboratory department staff, the Assistant Director of Laboratory Services must be an active team player and be able to offer their expertise and knowledge for any pressing issues.
