EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Accounting, IT or related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a data governance or data mastering capacity.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with financial data systems and analysis.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience within the banking industry.
  • Data Governance and Steward Professional Certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Experience working with industry data governance tools, such as Axon, EDC and IDQ.
  • Knowledge of banking industry and banking systems, Fiserv Product Suite.
  • Solid understanding of data and database architecture.
  • Good knowledge of corporate governance programs and practices.
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, presentation, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and ideas quickly.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work assignments.

JOB SUMMARY

The Enterprise Data Governance Steward provides support for the Data Governance Program's processes, policies and procedures pertaining to internal NYCB data. Works closely with the Enterprise Data Governance Manager Sr on the implementation of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, including development and implementation of standards, policies and tools, data error management and escalation. The Enterprise Data Governance Steward partners with counterpart Data Stewards within the Business Process Owner's (BPOs) line of business, Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), to ensure consistent adoption, approach and adherence to the treatment of data across the Bank.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • In conjunction with the Enterprise Data Governance Manager Sr, supports the NYCB Data Governance Program, the Program expansion and data quality.
  • Identifies and maintains key data fields, including Data Ownership, Data Lineage and the Data Glossary in Axon and EDC.
  • Stays current with the enterprise-wide Data Governance related policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates activities with the Internal Audit and ERM programs and established working relationship.
  • Develops strong working relationships with assigned Data Owners/Designates and BPOs to further promote the need for data quality and adherence to the Data Governance Policy and Program.
  • Leads the Error Management Processes for assigned Data Owners/Designates.
  • Works closely with designated Data Owners/Designees and key BPOs to review data errors and track remediation.
  • Tracks key data field internal data errors/findings identified by Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, regulatory audits, BSA, quality assurance teams and self-reported for timely resolution.
  • Prepares appropriate data working group meeting agendas, materials, minutes and performs needed follow-up.
  • Provides input and support for the Data Quality Metrics Program, as requested.
  • Working with the Data Owner, develops, documents, tests and monitors IDQ data quality rules.
  • Ensures all documentation and procedures within data governance are current and in compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.
  • Updates department databases as required.
  • Conducts analysis and research as needed in support of data quality.
  • Identifies possible data risks through the course of working with BPOs and the creation/review of data errors.
  • Supports the efforts of the Enterprise Data Quality Assurance Team by communicating data errors to Data Owners, securing answers to outstanding questions and facilitating required meetings.
  • Takes the initiative to provide recommendations to the Enterprise Data Governance Manger Sr to enhance the Program or to help solve problems or provide departmental efficiency
