HOW YOU WILL DO IT

You are an experienced embedded software developer with a passion for developing products that improve our world. You have a strong understanding of full life-cycle product development, and are comfortable with Modern C++ and Object Oriented Design. You have proven integration and debugging skills within both Hardware and Software, and have experience working in regulated industries (IEC 62304, DO-178, etc.) You are a strong communicator, problem solver, mentor, and teammate, and are excited to work on a wide range of products and technologies. As a Senior Software Engineer at Plexus, you will create high-quality software as a part of a cross-functional project team that develops products to delight our customers and improve our world. You are engaged in all phases of product development (conceptualization, development, verification, commercialization), and will help to develop the skills and provide mentorship of other engineers within your team.

Key Job Accountabilities:


  • Develops engineering/product concepts that are innovative, high-quality, cost-appropriate, and satisfy all stakeholder's (customer, manufacturing, material, agency, etc.) needs and requirements through an established area of technical specialty and mentorship of others on the global discipline team.

  • Demonstrates effective communications (teleconference, email, and in-person) through interaction with customers (internal and external) regarding project technical subject matter.

  • Demonstrates skill in the full product realization process, as it applies to their role.

  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently in multiple phases for the Product Realization Process, without direction from mentors or functional management.

  • Assists project management in the development of proposals to ensure accurate technical, staffing, budgetary, and schedule content.

  • Demonstrates desire and skill in coaching and mentoring other software team members on technical and role-related competencies

Additional Accountabilities


  • Supports the Lean culture and effectively utilizes Lean Sigma concepts and tools to identify and eliminate waste while improving processes.

  • Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated <10%).

Required Qualifications


  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering

  • Five (5) years of relevant experience (product development, embedded software development)

  • C++ 2011 or newer

  • Hardware and Software Integration and Debugging

  • Full Life cycle Product Development

  • Full Life cycle Software Development

Additional Qualifications


  • Intermediate Programming Skills (C#, Python, Rust, JavaScript or similar)

  • Some familiarity with C

  • Intermediate Decision Making, Problem Solving Skills

  • Intermediate Verbal and Written Communications Skills

  • Strong Analytical Skills

  • Intermediate Cross-Discipline Development Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of Structured Design

  • Ability to develop good working relationships with team members and customers

  • Lab test/measurement equipment experience

  • Lab tools experience

  • General office equipment and materials
