Edward Jones Trust Company provides trustee, investment advisory and custody services for the clients of Edward Jones. These services are offered primarily to individuals, businesses, charitable organizations and private foundations.

The Trust Officer is responsible for the administration of trusts, estates, and investment management accounts.  The responsibilities include:


  • Reviewing, understanding, and interpreting language in trusts and other estate planning documents in order to formulate a plan for execution of the overall estate planning strategy while limiting fiduciary, regulatory and legal risk;

  • Developing, strengthening, and retaining client, beneficiary and branch team relationships;

  • Partnering with financial advisors to develop communication plans for the duration of the execution phase of the estate plan including setting expectations in order to deliver an excellent client experience;

  • Discussing and explaining complex estate planning concepts, trust terms and legal concerns/requirements with beneficiaries and financial advisors in a way that is easy to understand;

  • Proactively identifying, researching, and creating solutions regarding complex and non-routine legal, tax, and logistical issues that arise and are often time sensitive as related to trust interpretation and administration;

  • Conducting strategic planning meetings with leaders, legal, tax, fiduciary, and portfolio managers; and considering their advice when making decisions necessary to administer trusts and estates;

  • Proactive management of ongoing account administration, including onboarding and closing of accounts, asset identification, asset gathering, analysis and payment of expenses, discretionary distributions and completion of required reviews and reports for regulatory or internal purposes;

  • Coordinating client service with other Trust Company and Operations associates, branch teams, and outside business professionals including attorneys and tax preparers.

  • Understanding and balancing the needs of grantors and all current and future beneficiaries within a fiduciary framework;

  • Serving on Trust Company governance committees or other initiatives as requested.


  • Bachelor's degree required and, or equivalent training, certification or work experience is a plus;

  • Professional designation required such as one of the following: J.D., CFP, CPA, CFA, CTFA

  • At least 5 years trust and estate administration, or related legal or financial services experience required;

  • Knowledge of trust administration principles, estate planning principles, taxes, and investment principles required;

  • Demonstrated ability to balance compliance, legal, and business decisions;

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team-based environment, delegate work appropriately, and lead meetings effectively;

  • Ability to use trust accounting system, Microsoft products and other automation tools;

  • Ability to effectively train, delegate and follow up with others who provide service to the client and branch team; Organization skills are essential;

  • Must be highly skilled in written and verbal communication (especially in complex matters) and demonstrate a high level of interpersonal skills
