Facilities Manager at Vactor Manufacturing in Streator, Illinois

Job Description:










Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

·         Coordinate company environmental compliance to ensure compliance with NFPA, local, state and federal regulations and reports.  

·         Coordinate Facility vendors in conjunction with purchasing to include janitorial, uniforms, grounds keeping, rentals, and employee purchase program.

·         Read, comprehend, and implement new standards accordingly.

·         On call 24 hours/7 days a week for spills, fires, sprinkler alarms, injuries, natural disasters, security, and equipment breakdowns that affect the facility.

·         Plan for potential capital expenditures in relation to the facilities grounds, heating/cooling, buildings, and non-production equipment.

·         Coordinate the remedy of unsafe working conditions.

·         Coordinate and assist Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Crewleader in implementation of responsibilities.

·         Secure cost estimates for special projects.

·         Maintain ISO14001 EMS for compliance and certification.

·         Coordinate facility waste disposal programs and recycling programs.

·         Assist Safety Manager in developing required safety/environmental programs for implementation and compliance.    

·         Review Material Safety Data Sheets for toxic chemicals, handling procedures, IEPA compliance and determine approval or disapproval for use.

·         Maintain Business Continuity Program (BCP).

·         Maintain facility security through a 3rd party notification system, door key assignments, video cameras, access control, and procedures.

·         Coordinate and control maintenance budget in relations to utilities and facility related vendors.

·         Serve as the primary Emergency Coordinator for Hazardous Waste Management Program.

·         Duties Include:

·         Know and implement all aspects of the Vactor Contingency Plan (RPCC Plan).

·         Know the operations and activities of the facility.

·         Know location and characteristics of on-site Hazardous Waste.

·         Location of records.

·         Facility layout.

·         Complete an Annual Hazardous Waste Management Training

·         Proper labeling, storage, and handling of Hazardous Waste.

·         Respond to spills, fire, or explosions of Hazardous Waste.

·         Complete and maintain waste manifest, reports, or other records.

·         Oversee Weekly inspect of Hazardous Waste accumulation areas.

·         Oversee Communication and/or alarm systems.

·         Shutdown of operations.

·         Oversee Annual Hazardous Waste Management Training for all affected employees.

·         Maintain a HAZWOPER Certification at the First Responder Operations Level.

·         Maintain annual Hazards Waste Management training for RCRA compliance.

·         Maintain 3-year DOT Hazardous Materials Certification.

·         Coordinate DOT regulations for training and compliance in relations to shipping personnel.

·         Complete computer-based reports and Preventive Maintenance for safety, environmental and maintenance.

·         Specify and submit requisitions for safety/environmental and non-productive equipment and supplies.

·         Inspect completed work for compliance with blueprints and specifications.

·         Insure safe practices through clean, organized, and visual workplace. 

·         Assist with incident investigation as required regarding spills, property damage, and theft.

·         Specify and purchase lifting equipment to meet OSHA compliance.

·         Coordinate Insurance inspections and approvals for additions.

 
Marginal Duties:

·         Order office supplies and furniture.

·         Travel for acquisitions, training, seminars, and meetings.

·         Access to confidential information.

·         Special duties as assigned by supervisor.

·         Review and approve facility related invoices.

·         Assist accounting in Capital asset reviews and facility related reports.

Position Requirements

·         High school diploma or equivalent.  College degree is preferred.

·         1-year experience or college education in Business Operations preferred.

·         1-year experience or equivalent training in Industrial Safety and OSHA regulations preferred.

·         1-year experience or equivalent training in environmental regulations and pollution control preferred.

·         1-year experience as a supervisor and training in supervision preferred.

·         1-year experience or equivalent training in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic applications preferred.

·         Demonstrated success with project management required.

·         Strong mechanical aptitude and blueprint reading are required.

·         Knowledge and experience in fabrication, welding, material handling, rigging, assembly and painting processes preferred.

·         Knowledge or experience in security procedures preferred.

·         Good reading, writing and verbal communications skills.

·         Good interpersonal skills.

·         Good organizational and time management skills.

·         Good computer skills – Excel, Work, and AutoCAD.

·         Good decision-making skills.

·         Ability to appraise, coach and develop subordinates.

·         Ability to foresee potential problems in safety, environmental and maintenance issues based on experience and knowledge.

·         Open to new ideas and continuous improvement
