Job Summary:
Implements Blue Diamond Growers' communications strategies and activities with a broad range of stakeholders, including our grower-owners, employees, media, potential employees, and consumers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                        

• Writes, edits, takes photos, and coordinates corporate magazine publication, Almond Facts; weekly employee e-newsletter; annual report; intranet and external website information; press releases, etc. 


• Drafts presentations, speeches; organizes annual meeting, young leader programs and other special events as needed.


• Supports the Director of Communications with recommending corporate communication strategy.


•  Oversees internal communication; fostering positive internal and public support for key corporate objectives; and sustaining our corporate image and solidifying corporate stakeholder relationships.


• Assists in planning Annual Growers Meeting.


• Utilizes visual mediums such as graphics, videos, webpage design, posters, etc. to drive the communications strategy.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS                                                                     

Minimum level of education required 

• Bachelor's Degree in agriculture communications, journalism, English, corporate communications, or public relations.       

Minimum number of year(s) of experience required in addition to education plus type(s) of functional experience

• 2 years of formal communications work experience. 

Other required type(s) of functional experience (e.g. Production/Operations, Accounting, Forklift Operator, Inventory Control, etc.)       

• Strong writing and interview skills, commitment to quality of work, and in-depth knowledge of AP Style.


• Ability to quickly come up to speed on business models, industry concerns and topics needed to successfully communication to a variety of stakeholders.


• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.


• Ability to prioritize often competing deadlines. 


• Solid team player, experienced in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Ability to manage and direct the activities of consultants, vendors and potential direct reports.


• Effective communicator, comfortable and experienced at representing the Communications Function to all levels of internal and external stakeholders.


• Ability to think strategically, proactively offer creative solutions and provide practical knowledge to execute tactically. 


• Experienced in media relations, working with journalists to tell a story or set the record straight. 


• Demonstrated success managing social media presence for a business and orchestrating proactive outreach across various digital platforms.


• Graphic design, web content management and video editing skills a plus.


• Ability to work under deadline pressures and adjust quickly to changing parameters.


• Proven track record of delivering superior results in dynamic and growing company.
