What You'll Do

Aptima is seeking a summer-only graduate student intern to provide algorithm development/implementation support. The software tools we are developing enable advanced analysis and visualizations of team dynamics, physiological measurements, and organizational health. The position would include the opportunity to design and implement new social network analysis, AI, and machine learning algorithms capable of operating on diverse multi-modal data, including communications, interactions, and physiological signals. This position will be mentored by senior engineers and offers an excellent opportunity to expand your career knowledge and gain valuable experience solving complex mathematical and engineering problems while working in a leading-edge Research and Development environment. In this role, you will assist in the following areas: algorithm development, machine learning, social network analysis, AI, predictive analytics, physiological analysis, natural language processing





Experience Needed


  • Knowledge of some of the following: Python, JavaScript, C# and Java.

  • Familiarity with basic SNA (Social Network Analysis) methodologies

  • Familiarity with statistical models (e.g., ERGM, STERGM) and/or machine learning models (e.g., neural networks, random forest)

  • Familiarity with one or more statistical and/or machine learning packages (e.g., Tensorflow, Numpy, Scipy)

  • Understanding of software development best practices and user experiences.

  • Able to work with complex, noisy data

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and to learn rapidly via formal and informal training and instruction.




Minimum Requirements


  • U.S. Citizenship required or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

  • B.S. in Mathematics or Computer Science, 2 Years towards graduate degree in Mathematics or Computer Science
