Senior Director, Digital Workspace Services- End User at FINRA in Rockville, Maryland

Job Description:

The Senior Director, Digital Workspace Services (DWS) is a strategic visionary position within the Technology leadership team. The major function for this position is to develop and drive a FINRA enterprise-wide, leading edge strategy, implementation and support within the digital workspace area. This role will have 100% ownership and oversite of all strategic projects, initiatives, and decisions for the enterprise.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Provides team leadership and management

  • Leads, directs, and provides a highly innovative strategic vison for the Digital Workspace Service team.

  • Responsible for DWS staff performance management and continuous skills development for up to 5 managers and their teams to continuously upskill the DWS staff to ensure the everchanging workspace user needs.

  • Develop and maintain a highly collaborative working relationship with the end user community, FINRA leaders, and fellow technology teams (e.g., Business Applications, Security & Network).

  • Leads FINRA’s DWS engineering and operations practices.

  • Own and drive the research, design, and implementation of the new workplace services/tools and overall strategy at an enterprise level. Manages the priorities and backlog as continuous transformation is to be expected.

  • Own and drive user experience techniques and metrics to help drive strategy.

Provides hands-on engineering and operations management direction and support with optimizing, integrating and unifying on a wide swath of technologies including:


  • Workplace and home workstations (laptops, tablets and cell phones).

  • Endpoint management systems (Laptop (Windows & Apple) VDI/DaaS and BYOX).

  • Internal and external customer directory services.

  • Office 365 (includes Outlook and Teams) and other collaboration and related software solutions.

  • Directory services (internal and external customer), along with file share storage solutions.

  • Microsoft & Azure cloud services, including Power BI.

  • Self-help services.

  • Home office architecture and support.

  • Provides hands-on engineering and operations management direction and support with integrating artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning (ML) platform workstations (e.g., ODAP, Data Bricks, Domino & etc).

  • Applies the appropriate DevOps configure, build, test, deployment and operate tools and practices to automate, as well as constantly improve resiliency, compliance and price performance.

  • Leverages AI within the DWS environment to constantly improve the user experience.

Leads FINRA’s DWS product management practice


  • Oversees all user new product service capability rollouts. Partners with the DWS Engineering and Operations teams on developing and tracking all DWS team product features and capabilities roadmaps.

  • Provides hands-on oversight to the development, implementation and operation of a multi-tier customer outreach program that is designed to enhance the customer feedback loop and promote adoption of DWS products and services.

  • Leads the management of third-party vendors (e.g., Microsoft, Azure, Apple, Lenovo, Slack & etc) relationships. This includes price and contract negotiations, and the ability to influence the vendors’ capabilities and features product roadmaps.

Education/Experience Requirements:


  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years of experience with engineering, integrating, and optimizing key technologies including workplace and home workstations (includes laptops, tablets and cell phones) end point management systems, directory services, messaging, Office 365, collaboration, VDI/DAAS, data analytics, BYOX, Microsoft/Azure cloud services, AI ML and self-help services.  Master's degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years of managing a large digital workspace team (employees and contractors).

  • Minimum of 5 years of implementing and driving user experience techniques and metrics.

  • Strong knowledge with how to leverage AI within the DWS environment.

  • Working knowledge in DWS Cyber Security, Network technologies, and configuration alternatives.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creating enterprise-wide strategic solutions.

  • Proven highly innovative change agent who can analyze, enhance, and grow capabilities in the digital workspace at the enterprise level.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline and at least 10-15 years of digital workspace experience with demonstratable subject matter expertise; Master's degree and past Financial Services industry experience preferred.
